That is pretty awesome - and I love how the protestors stopped its demolition. I was actually in a Roman water reservoir (the Basilica cistern) in Istanbul in summer this year, and they look so similar, that its quite incredible. I wonder if thats where they got the design:

The main difference being that they used old temple parts to construct the columns in the Basilica Cistern, and hence each column is different. Also, the age is a little different - this one was constructed in the 5th century (so 1500 years old !). It is one of the most awesome things I've seen. So I was really intrigued to see your post, and that fact that the basic design is very similar - how cool is that !

Wow. But this is more impressive and the floor is well built...maybe they will transform this reservoir into something like that in your photo..
