Hello friends of this splendid community! Today I return to write a post here about a place that I find truly special and extremely interesting: I'm talking about the "Bosco delle Penne Mozze" (Forest of Broken Feathers), a place of memory and peace dedicated to the fallen Alpini (Italian mountain troops) in all wars, which I had the opportunity to visit. I discovered this place by chance when I was in Cison di Valmarino, in the province of Treviso. In the past, I had already talked about this beautiful village in some of my previous posts, but I had no idea that an association called "Penne Mozze" (Broken Feathers), which includes many families of fallen Alpini, had created this forest in the distant 1968. Initially, this forest consisted only of a simple wooden cross. In the following years, the place has been enriched with other monuments bearing the names of the Treviso Alpini who died in war, and I must say that it has become very interesting scenically as well. I took a walk near this forest and noticed that many cyclamens have grown in this sad place over time. Additionally, you can see the bronze statue of the Madonna, symbolizing the mother of the fallen, and numerous steel stars bearing the names of the Treviso Alpini who died in war. This place, besides being a memorial site, is a gathering and celebration place for the Alpini and their families. From what I understand, they gather here every year to celebrate the history and values of the Alpini. Of course, the Bosco delle Penne Mozze is open to all those who wish to learn about the history of the Alpini and pay tribute to them. The Alpini are specialized soldiers in mountain combat, in case anyone is unfamiliar with them; in Italy, they are known, but I'm not sure about abroad. They played a significant role in the major war against the Austrians, but over time, they have become a symbol not only for their courage in the mountains but also for the values they represent. This has led to the formation of various associations that promote not only Alpine culture but also engage in volunteer and charity activities. I hope you find this post interesting, and I hope you also appreciate the photos I took that day. Thank you for your attention, and see you soon in my next post!
For example, in the flood in Emilia Romagna that occurred a few months ago in Italy, they provided significant assistance, even on a logistical level.
