"Verona and its Christmas markets"

Hello everyone, dear friends of this wonderful community!

Today I'm here to share with you my recent experience in Verona during the enchanting Christmas market stalls, an unmissable event that repeats every year in the splendid setting of Piazza dei Signori, one of the most charming squares in Verona. If you already know about the Santa Lucia stalls that I shared in a previous post, those in Piazza dei Signori are definitely worth a visit, lasting from November until practically Christmas.

My advice is to plan your visit on weekdays when they are more accessible and less crowded. Avoid weekends, unless you enjoy the chaotic and festive atmosphere, but honestly, it's not my case because you might risk not seeing much. Certainly, for some time, there has been discussion about moving the stalls to larger spaces due to the limited size of the square, but personally, I believe that the heart of Verona's historic center is the ideal place to keep them.

Once in the square, you'll find stalls offering a variety of delicacies. From those selling delicious "cremini" to stalls with Christmas decorations for the home or Christmas tree, to my favorite on the right, specializing in strudel and products from South Tyrol. This year I noticed a price increase, with €4 for a "Brenzel," a figure that I consider quite high, and the same goes for a piece of strudel cake. Despite this, there's no shortage of customers, with many people even buying entire pieces of cake; it was almost a frenzy.

In the center of the square, you'll always find products from South Tyrol, with a wide choice of cold cuts, especially "speck." Wurstel and beer are obviously abundantly available, but after a past experience where I had health problems for a week, I decided to avoid such delicacies; probably, you don't know how they prepare them.

Heading to the right of Piazza Dante, there's a small square with the Palazzo della Ragione, also set up with stalls, although this year I had the impression that there were fewer. In conclusion, I can say that this time makes Verona particularly fascinating thanks to these markets, even if, honestly, they don't reach the magical atmosphere of those in Merano or Bolzano, where you breathe a real Christmas air, and there are also more of them.
