Hi Hiveans! It's been a month (again) since my last post. I guess this is going to be a once-a-month thing? Hahaha!
In this post, I would like to share our recent camping experience at one of the newest spots in Cebu, LAKE VELOSO, locally known as Linao. It is located in the mountains of San Fernando, Cebu, and features a wide camping ground, some stores and cottages, and a raft on the murky lake. I'm not sure if this lake is natural, though.
Going to Lake Veloso
Since this month, I just moved to my new place, which happens to be near Lake Veloso. So, @kev.incredible and I took a jeepney to the City of Naga in Cebu and got off at the junction to Toledo City. Then I hailed a tricycle to Balirong, a barangay in the City of Naga, where we planned to meet the others.
If you are from Cebu City, you can take a bus to Toledo City from the South Bus Terminal and get off at Balirong.
We took the opportunity to do some last-minute shopping at Balirong, then we rode a motorcycle taxi up to "ilang Sepin." It cost us P70 (USD 1.25) each. Actually, you can choose to go directly to Lake Veloso by motorcycle taxi. We just wanted to hike for a few minutes, because why not? Hahaha!
When we arrived at "ilang Sepin," to our surprise, they were having a feast. There were a lot of people around, and they had set up for a disco. We joked that instead of camping at Lake Veloso, we should just stay here and dance! Hahaha!
Hiking to Lake Veloso
The hike to Lake Veloso is quick, taking around 15-20 minutes, depending on your pace. It can be a bit exhausting, especially if you're carrying a heavy backpack. Since it was already 6 in the evening when we started hiking from "ilang Sepin," it was almost dark by the time we reached Lake Veloso.
In case you're wondering, you can bring your own car or motorcycle to Lake Veloso. For cars, you can park at the entrance. However, be prepared for unpaved and rocky roads when heading to Lake Veloso. Hahaha!
Camping Experience
Camping at Lake Veloso is great! It has a laid-back vibe, cool scenery, minimal light pollution, and it's away from noise. I was actually impressed that the disco from "ilang Sepin" wasn't audible at the campsite. Also, I'm not sure if this was because of the town's feast, but there was a lot of cow droppings at the campsite. Hahaha!
Although there are stores at Lake Veloso, they are closed at night, so you need to prepare everything from food to water, as the nearest store is "ilang Sepin."
We followed our usual camping routine – preparing food, which took almost 3 hours (hello @mariasalve @dananatalie AHAHAHA). Then we had our festive dinner and social time. We also celebrated @junjinju and @ybanezkim2's birthdays by lighting up a cake and enjoying some drinks.
Since this was our first camp of the year together as a group and served as a reunion camp, we didn't play games. Instead, we shared stories, caught up, and laughed loudly, with An leading the conversation. Iyaha tanang sturya bai 🤣
Oh, how I miss this experience where you just forget all your problems and worries in life and have fun!
I went to sleep earlier than the others because, you know, I'm getting older, right? Haha, but I was awakened by the rumbling and stomping of running cows in the campsite. Scary, isn't it? Hahaha! It was quite an experience, but it stopped after a few minutes, and I went back to sleep.
Morning came, and I woke up late. The others were already preparing breakfast and having photoshoot sessions. I also flew my drone to capture the entire lake.
After camping, we decided to go to my house for a housewarming. It was quite literal since it was so humid and warm inside my house. Talk about poor ventilation! Hahaha!
Even though our group rarely goes camping due to shifting hobbies, conflicting schedules, moving, and other activities in life, we always rekindle our passion, fun, bonding, and laughter when we meet, set up our tents, and enjoy the mountains. After all, it's where we met and became friends; it's always where our hearts feel at home.

This is a nice place, I would love at some point to be able to live the experience of camping in a place like this and enjoy the stars and the sound of nature and also if I go with friends, it would be even better.
