Sunday midday, it's a rather sunny day on the island of Phuket! The thermometer indicates 35.4 degrees Celcius and our stomachs are crying out for food.
During our last trip on the roads of the west coast, I had spotted a restaurant with a panoramic view of the ocean that looked nice. Located between Kata Beach and the Karon viewpoint, it takes a good half hour to get there from our home. Luckily the air conditioning in the car is our best friend!
After a few small detours and searching a little bit where it was (I couldn't remember exactly where it was), the clock was already indicating 1 pm.
Reggae music for a Jamaican mood, even in the colors of the flowerpots of the orchids, which is not to displease me, giving the place a rather friendly charm.
One thing's for sure, we can't say it was crowded! We were the only customers! It's not every day that we have the feeling to have reserved just for us such a spacious restaurant.
The meal was fine (no more) but the view of the ocean was amazing! I say it often but really how lucky I am to be able to live here and how happy I am to have left the gray sky and the cold of Paris without any regrets ๐
With our stomachs full, we are finally ready to go for a walk.
Our first stop will be for the Karon viewpoint, not far from there (less than 10 minutes by car). This one gives an interesting view of Kata, Karon and Patong beaches.
Patong is recognizable by the sight of the tallest building on Phuket Island, the Patong Tower Condominium, with a height of 113 m and 30 floors, which is not far from Bangla Road.
Just as we can see the Big Buddha from behind on the heights of Chalong.
And here we arrive at the key moment of the day, a stop at the windmill viewpoint between Ya Nui Beach and Nai Harn Beach.
Located on the hills, it's the site of the Phromthep Cape renewable energy plant which includes a wind turbine providing 150 kW (built in 1996) and 8 kW provided by solar cells.
A golden opportunity for me to pilot my drone (a Mavic Pro from DJI) and enjoy such a wonderful place!
With on my left, people in canoes hiking from the beach of Ya Nui and on my right, the pleasure sailboat and other catamarans facing the beach of Nai Harn.
The color of the water and its transparency is simply amazing, it's not for nothing that this is one of the favorite places for wedding photography and that so many locals and expats come here on weekends to relax.
You will find the link to the video of this wonderful day with drone footage at the end of this post ๐
After a long time here we realized what time it was, already 5.30pm. It was time to take the road back (even if the children so absorbed by their video games on their computer must not have been too aware of our absence, too happy not to have us on their backs)
We still had the luxury of a short stop in Patong to see if it was still as deserted as last time. To our great surprise, there was some activity on the beach with parasailing (cf. video at the end of this post).
All pictures/videos were taken with a OnePlus Nord, a Canon EOS M50
and a DJI Mavic Pro drone

Wow I can see the appeal to Phuket, what a lovely view from the restaurant all reserved for you!
Air-conditioning in cars and home a total necessity in hot humid climates, winters are normally lovely and a lot cooler.
Have a great week.
@tipu curate
Thank you (for the reblog too) ๐
In Phuket there are 2 seasons, rainy and hot, in the rainy the temperature is more acceptable (around 27ยฐC)
wish you a great week too ๐

Oh no... rainy and hot, not for me at least Durban gets to a comfortable 24-28ยฐC in winter, anything between 30-40ยฐC in summer with rains, that's when I hide from the sun. Stunning views and enjoyed the video, definitely a place to visit in winter.
