Hey, shall we keep traveling? Today I will share with you one of the most important and magnificent buildings in Ottoman history, Dolmabahçe Palace. I can say that Dolmabahçe Palace is the most beautiful place I have visited in Istanbul. But let's start our journey from the beginning.
Kadıköy is the most used place in Istanbul for those who want to cross from the Asian side to the European side. So I will take the ferry from Kadıköy to Beşiktaş.
It was cloudy and really cold that day, yet everywhere was overcrowded. I guess there is no solution to the crowds in Istanbul lol. Seagulls were also walking around with people and they were quite crowded too. I share with you the most beautiful photos I could take.
It is very enjoyable to watch the ferry but it is not so easy to take photos. It is very cold outside so you don't want to take photos there and inside you are either exposed to reflection or the railings of the ferry get in the frame. I saw many lighthouses during the trip. By the way, I couldn't get on one of the big ferries you see in the first photos. I had to take a very small ferry because I missed it, otherwise I would have had to wait for 30 minutes.
As we got closer to the other side, architectural structures entered the frame. Just from here you can understand how crowded Istanbul is. There is no empty space, there are buildings everywhere and most of them are very high-rise apartment buildings.
Beşiktaş beach is much less crowded than Kadıköy. I have been here before when I first came to Istanbul. I visited one of the cafes you see on the left side, but that was 5-6 years ago so I don't remember much. Maybe that cafe has already closed and something else has opened in its place.
You have to walk a long way to enter Dolmabahçe Palace. Because the entrance of the palace is in the opposite direction to the beach. This may not seem like much of a problem but I can say that it is an extra 10 minutes walk. On the way I took a photo of these magnificent gates. This belongs to the palace but you can't enter from here.
After entering the palace, the clock tower welcomes you. It is not as big as the clock tower I shared with you before but it is too big to share horizontally. It looks like it is made of marble and the engravings are incredible. I recommend you to zoom in and check the photo.
Here is the entrance gate to the garden of the majestic palace. I studied for a long time the wonderful inlays on all the marble columns because to me it is incredibly difficult. I've always wondered how many years it takes to build such buildings. According to the information on the internet, it took 13-14 years to build this palace. You can check more details and why I call it the heart of the empire here. TLDR; Because Ottoman sultans lived here XD
The garden of the palace is really big and well-organized. The railings around the garden are also very carefully crafted. There is a big pool in the middle of the garden and in the middle of this pool there is a fountain with swans. At first it looks like it is part of the fountain, but no, it is a living seagull. There are different kinds of flowers around the pool. I'm sure this place was much more magnificent when a sultan lived here. There were hundreds of different flowers.
That's the magnificent palace! It doesn't look very big from here, does it? But in fact it's so spacious and has so many rooms that I can't tell you. I would have loved to show you the inside of the palace but photography was forbidden inside the palace. What could be the reason for that? Is it because if people take photos and share them on social media, the number of people coming here will decrease? I mean it loses its old charm because everyone sees everywhere on social media lol. The entrance fee was 200 TL. They might not want to lose that.
Here is a close up photo. I waited a long time to take a photo here when there was no one in front of me but unfortunately there was a lot of people and I never made it. So I took a photo like this without caring about the people in front of me. As far as I can see, there is a renovation going on right now. I don't think it's a fire escape lol.
Here is a photo I took from the side of the palace, you can see how wide the palace is. This was not even the very end of the palace. When I look at the photos, I remember again how impressive it was architecturally.
The fact that the palace is intertwined with the Bosphorus is another perfection. You can jump straight into the water from the garden lol. Of course this is forbidden but I'm sure princes were doing this years ago. You can easily watch the Asian side from here. I was lucky that the sea was like a sheet that day.
There were Lion statues all around the garden. I think this was preferred because it represents power. The statue here looks like it's crushing a reptile, doesn't it? Maybe a crocodile?
As you can see, the gates to the Bosphorus are closed, so sorry for those who want to jump. But the view is priceless. Imagine living here, you would never be bored, it takes more than 1 day just to walk around the palace haha. If you spend some time in each room, you can stay in the palace for a week. The food is brought to you by the servants and everything is prepared before you even ask for it. Your bathroom, your bed, even the dream is wonderful.
Another door to the outside. If they opened all these, I'm sure more visitors would come inside, but it would probably be too cumbersome. There would have to be a lot of security at each door.
Photos of the palace from different angles. In the second photo there is another opportunity to see the length of the palace. I'm really happy that there's a great demand for this place because I think it's really important for our history. Again, the majority were tourists, but there were also locals. I just remembered that some people insisted too much and caused problems for the security guards even though it was forbidden to take photos. For example, it is forbidden to touch the paintings but three young girls in front of me told the security 10 times that they wanted to touch it and insisted. They even pushed their luck to take photos. If I were the security guard, I would have kicked them out already.
A photo of the magnificent gate and the garden from another angle. The aura of the place was completely different and I want to visit it again. I felt the history in my bones and dreamed a lot. Even though I am familiar with running a country in games, running a country from here was not like playing a game. It's not easy to give orders to people, to be compassionate on the one hand, but at the same time to give punishments that are serious enough to stop people from committing crimes.
The best way to end this post was to catch a cat wandering there. I was so scared that it would run away until I took my phone out of my pocket, but it calmly continued on its way. In the vertical photo you can see how he is looking at me. What do you think he thought at that moment?

Selam gezmeye devam edelim mi? Bugün sizinle Osmanlı tarihindeki en önemli ve görkemli yapılardan birini paylaşacağım, Dolmabahçe Sarayı. Dolmabahçe Sarayı'nın İstanbul'da gezdiğim en güzel yer olduğunu söyleyebilirim. Ama yolculuğumuza baştan başlayalım.
Kadıköy İstanbul'da Anadolu yakasından Avrupa yakasına geçmek isteyenler için en çok kullanılan yer. Ben de vapurla birlikte Kadıköy'den Beşiktaş'a geçeceğim.
O gün bulutluydu ve gerçekten çok soğuktu, buna rağmen her yer aşırı kalabalıktı. Sanırım İstanbul kalabalığına herhangi bir çözüm bulunamaz lol. Martılar da insanlarla birlikte dolaşıyordu ve onlar da oldukça kalabalıktı. Çekebildiğim en güzel fotoğrafları sizinle paylaşıyorum.
Vapurda etrafı izlemek çok keyifli ama fotoğraf çekmek o kadar kolay değil. Dışarısı çok soğuk olduğu için orada fotoğraf çekmek istemezsiniz ve içeride de ya yansımaya maruz kalıyorsunuz ya da vapurun korkulukları kadraja giriyor. Yolculuk boyunca pek çok deniz feneri gördüm. Bu arada ilk fotoğraflarda gördüğünüz o büyük vapurlardan birine binemedim. Onu kaçırdığım için oldukça küçük bir vapura binmek zorunda kaldım yoksa 30 dakika beklemem gerekecekti.
Karşıya yaklaştıkça mimari yapılar kadraja girdi. Sadece buradan da İstanbul'un ne kadar kalabalık olduğunu anlayabilirsiniz. Hiç boş bir alan yok, her yere binalar yapılmış ve çoğu da çok yüksek katlı apartmanlar.
Beşiktaş sahili Kadıköy'den çok daha az kalabalık. Daha önce İstanbul'a ilk geldiğimde buraya gelmiştim. Sol tarafta gördüğünüz kafelerden birini ziyaret etmiştim ama bunun üzerinden 5-6 yıl geçti bu yüzden çok fazla şey hatırlamıyorum. Belki de o kafe çoktan kapanmıştır ve yerine başka bir şey açılmıştır.
Dolmabahçe Sarayına girmek için oldukça yürümeniz gerekiyor. Çünkü sarayın girişi sahil ile tam ters yönde. Bu çok problem gibi görünmeyebilir ama fazladan 10 dakikalık bir yürüyüş oluyor diyebilirim. Yolda giderken bu görkemli kapılardan bir fotoğraf çektim. Burası saraya ait ama buradan girilemiyor.
Saraya girdikten sonra sizi saat kulesi karşılıyor. Sizinle daha önce paylaştığım kadar büyük bir saat kulesi değil ama yatay olarak paylaşılmayacak kadar büyük. Mermerden yapılmış gibi görünüyor ve işlemeleri inanılmaz. Fotoğrafı yakınlaştırıp kontrol etmenizi tavsiye ederim.
İşte görkemli sarayın bahçeye giriş kapısı. Bütün mermer sütunlardaki harika işlemeleri uzun süre inceledim çünkü bana göre bu inanılmaz zor. Her zaman bu tarz binaların yapımının kaç yıl sürdüğünü merak etmişimdir. İnternetteki bilgilere göre buranın inşası 13-14 yıl sürmüş. Daha fazla detaylı bilgiyi ve neden buraya imparatorluğun kalbi dediğimi buradan kontrol edebilirsiniz. TLDR; Osmanlı padişahları burada yaşadığı için XD
Sarayın bahçesi gerçekten çok büyük ve her yeri özenle düzenlenmiş. Bahçenin etrafındaki korkuluklar da aynı şekilde çok büyük bir emekle işlenmiş. Bahçenin ortasında büyük bir havuz var ve bu havuzun ortasında kuğuların olduğu bir fıskiye var. Fıskiyenin tepesindeki martıyı fark ettiniz değil mi? Başta o da fıskiyenin bir parçası gibi görünüyor ama hayır, o yaşayan bir martı. Havuzun etrafında farklı türde çiçekler var. Burada bir padişah yaşarken buranın çok daha görkemli olduğuna eminim. Yüzlerce farklı çiçek vardır.
İşte görkemli saray! Buradan çok büyük görünmüyor değil mi? Ama aslında o kadar geniş ve o kadar fazla odası var ki size anlatamam. Size sarayın içini de göstermeyi çok isterdim ama sarayın içinde fotoğraf çekmek yasaktı. Bunun sebebi ne olabilir? İnsanlar fotoğraf çekip sosyal medyada paylaşırsa buraya gelen insan sayısı azalır diye mi? Yani eski çekiciliğini kaybeder çünkü herkes sosyal medyada her yeri görür lol. İçeri giriş ücreti 200 TL'ydi. Bunu kaybetmek istememiş olabilirler. Gördüğüm kadarıyla şu anda bir tadilat var. Bunun bir yangın merdiveni olmadığını düşünüyorum lol.
İşte yakından çekilmiş bir fotoğraf. Burada önümde kimse yokken fotoğraf çekebilmek için çok bekledim ama maalesef çok rağbet vardı ve asla bunu başaramadım. Ben de önümdeki insanları umursamadan böyle bir fotoğraf çektim.
Sarayın yan tarafından çektiğim bir fotoğraf, burada sarayın ne kadar geniş olduğunu görebilirsiniz. Burası sarayın en sonu bile değildi. Fotoğraflara baktıkça mimari açıdan ne kadar etkileyici olduğunu tekrar hatırlıyorum.
Sarayın İstanbul boğazıyla iç içe olması ayrı bir mükemmellik. Bahçeden direkt suya atlayabiliyorsunuz lol. Tabi ki bu yasak ama bundan yıllar önce eminim prensler bunu yapıyordur. Buradan Asya yakasını rahatça izleyebiliyorsunuz. Şanslıyım ki deniz de o gün çarşaf gibiydi.
Bahçenin her yanında Aslan heykelleri vardı. Sanırım bu gücü temsil ettiği için tercih edilmiş. Buradaki heykelde sanki bir sürüngeni eziyormuş gibi görünüyor değil mi? Belki bir timsah?
Gördüğünüz gibi boğaza açılan kapılar kapatılmış durumda, bu yüzden atlamak isteyenler için üzgünüm. Etrafı izlemek ise paha biçilemez. Burada yaşadığınızı hayal edin, asla canınız sıkılmazdı, zaten sadece sarayın içinde dolaşmak 1 günden fazla sürüyor haha. Her odada biraz zaman geçirseniz 1 hafta kadar sarayın içinden çıkmadan durabilirsiniz. Yemekler hizmetkarlar tarafından önünüze getiriliyor ve her şey siz daha demeden hazırlanıyor. Banyonuz, yatağınız, hayali bile çok güzel.
Dışarıya açılan bir başka kapı. Bütün bunları açsalar içeri daha fazla ziyaretçi gelir eminim ama muhtemelen bu çok külfetli olurdu. Her kapıda bir sürü güvenlik beklemesi gerekirdi.
Sarayın başka açıdan çekilmiş fotoğrafları. İkinci fotoğrafta sarayın uzunluğunu görmeniz için başka bir fırsat var. Buraya rağbetin büyük olması beni gerçekten mutlu etti çünkü bence burası tarihimiz için gerçekten çok önemli. Yine büyük bir çoğunluk turist olsa da yerliler de vardı. Şimdi aklıma geldi, bazı insanlar fotoğraf çekmek yasak olmasına rağmen çok fazla ısrarcı oldu ve güvenliklere sorun çıkardılar. Örneğin tablolara dokunmak yasak ama önümdeki üç genç kız güvenliğe 10 kere ona dokunmak istediklerini söyledi ve ısrarcı oldu. Hatta fotoğraf çekmek için de şanslarını çok zorladılar. Güvenliğin yerinde ben olsaydım onları çoktan dışarı atmıştım.
Görkemli kapının ve bahçenin bir başka açıdan fotoğrafı. İçerinin aurası bambaşkasıydı ve orayı tekrar ziyaret etmek istiyorum. Tarihi iliklerime kadar hissettim ve birçok hayal kurdum. Oyunlarda bir ülkeyi yönetmeye aşina olsam da buradan bir ülkeyi yönetmek oyun oynamaya benzemezdi. İnsanlara emir vermek, bir yandan merhametli olmak ama bir yandan da insanları suç işlemekten alıkoyacak kadar ciddi cezalar vermek kolay bir şey değil.
Bu gönderiyi bitirmenin en iyi yolu orada gezen bir kediyi yakalamaktı. Telefonumu cebimden çıkarana kadar kaçacak diye çok korktum ama o soğukkanlı bir şekilde yoluna devam etti. Dikey fotoğrafta bana nasıl baktığını görebilirsiniz. Sizce o an ne düşündü?

Dolmabahçe sarayı bir çok açıdan harika gözüküyor. Canlı hiç görmedim ama fotoğraflarda bile görünce kişiyi 200 yıl geriye götürüyor. Sarayın oldukça maliyetli olduğunu biliyorum, o dönem devletin ekonomik durumu da ortadaydı. Günümüze kadar ulaştığı için şanslıyız ama o dönem devlete faturası biraz ağır olmuş.

Anyways, the palace is such a beauty, I always wonder how much time and effort could have been taken to build this huge and beautiful place, this makes me believe the existence of jins. Lol
I'd love to get some pictures of the inside, man, it was a majestic palace. But like you said, that's the thing that pisses off a Hive user the most, I wish I could do something about it.
