Some time ago I visited the Christopher Columbus Necropolis for the first time, and I was enchanted with its variety of designs and architectural elements. That initial visit made me admire this national monument, because I went deep into the search for information about this site, and I was surprised with all the history it treasures. Now that I know it, I can recommend it to everyone who visits the city of Havana.
Taking into account my experience, here are some suggestions that may be favorable to really enjoy the tour.
Hace algún tiempo recorrí por primera vez la Necrópolis Cristóbal Colón, y quedé encantada con su variedad de diseños y elementos arquitectónicos. Aquella visita inicial me hizo admirar este monumento nacional, porque me adentré en la búsqueda de información sobre este sitio, y quedé sorprendida con toda la historia que atesora. Hoy que ya lo conozco, puedo recomendarlo a todas las personas que visiten la ciudad de La Habana.
Tomando en cuenta mi experiencia, dejo algunas sugerencias que pudieran resultar favorables para disfrutar realmente del recorrido.
First of all: I consider that a guided tour is the best option, because in this necropolis are the remains of dissimilar personalities of the history and culture of Cuba that marked a milestone in different social sectors, so being able to know a little of their trajectory is fascinating. In addition, interesting stories are written in many of its pantheons.
The second thing: plan several tours taking into account that this cemetery has an enormous spatial extension, and it is worthwhile to visit it with the necessary time to enjoy every detail.
Lo primero: considero que una visita guiada es la mejor opción, porque en esta necrópolis se encuentran los restos de disímiles personalidades de la historia y la cultura de Cuba que marcaron un hito en diferentes sectores sociales, por lo que poder conocer un poco de su trayectoria resulta fascinante. Además, se escriben en muchos de sus panteones historias interesantes.
Lo segundo: planificar varios recorridos teniendo en cuenta que este cementerio tiene una enorme extensión espacial, y vale la pena recorrerlo con el tiempo necesario para disfrutar de cada detalle.
Third: forget the social traditions, which in many cultures show cemeteries as scary places, and even bad luck. Instead, think that we are visiting one of the most renowned cemeteries in the American continent, and the largest in Cuba.
Finally: wear comfortable shoes, clothes that protect against the sun and a cap, since the climate in Cuba is characterized by high temperatures during most of the year.
En tercer lugar: olvidar las tradiciones sociales, que en muchas culturas nos muestran los cementerios como lugares atemorizantes, e incluso que provocan mala suerte. En su lugar, pensar que estamos recorriendo uno de los cementerios más reconocidos del continente americano, y el más grande de Cuba.
Finalmente: usar zapatos cómodos, ropa que proteja contra el sol y una gorra, debido a que el clima en Cuba se caracteriza por altas temperaturas durante la mayor parte del año.

Chistopher Columbus is a great explorer and navigator,its a nice place and it brings us back to to old times.The pictures shows us the rich cultures and traditions and the cemetery is an evident of ancient tombs.THANK you for sharing this.
