Last June 12, 2022, we visited together with my colleagues the floating Cottages of Cordova Cebu that is being a buzz on social media last summer. The hype of the place got our curiosity in our workplace to visit it. So we decided to get a cottage to find out what's on the place that makes it so noisy on social media. But, as expected it's not easy to find a vacant cottage, I ask 12 owners on social media that day, and all their cottages are fully booked already for the month of June. I lost hope for this outing to happen then the next day, one of the owners message me back that they referred us to another owner that has a vacant one that we can use on the day we will visit. So I get excited again that we find one for our outing. I informed my colleagues of this but I notify them that this is not cozy as the others we saw on social media. We don't have a choice but to take this since It's only a vacant cottage that will accommodate us.
The Crowd
We are shocked by the crowds that welcome us, The place is indeed a buzz all over the island, and a lot of Cebuanos want to visit this new Summer destination of Cordova Cebu. It is the pier of Bantayan Bay Cordova where the boat goes to the floating cottages docking. What do you think of this crowd? Do you still continue to Floating Cottages if this crowd welcomes you? or Pack up your things and go Home? I and my colleagues are determined to experience it so we continued.
This is the view in our spot in the middle of the ocean, a lot of cottages also surrounded us in this crystal clear ocean of Cordova Cebu. You will be amazed at how translucent it is you will definitely see the bottom of the ocean, the seaweeds, Starfish, corals, and different kinds of fish. This place is perfect for snorkeling and kayaking. I don't know if they will be allowed you to catch the fish.
R and J Floating Cottage
The cottage is big and it can accommodate 30 people, it is simple but it makes us relaxed and comfortable. It has a kitchen where you can cook and grill, Toilet, Bath, lifevest, Table, chairs, and a Mini pool inside for kids. They also have hammocks where you can chill and relax. The cottage is owned by R and J Floating Cottage you can visit their page to inquire and for bookings. The rent of the cottage we got is $70 only for a day.
We had fun on this outing, we enjoyed it and make ourselves a little dizzy at the end 😅. We empty 4 bottles of tequila for just the six of us. I also love the food, especially the fresh seafood we brought from the nearby fisherman and also the grilled pork, chicken barbeque, grilled squid, and fish. The kids of my colleagues also love the place and they enjoyed diving and snorkeling around. They are amazed by the different starfish they see around the sea deck.
How to Reach the Floating Cottages of Cordova?
If you plan to visit, the cottages are exactly located in Bantayan bay of Cordova Cebu, you can ride a bus or jeep bound to Cordova port the fare is only $1 from Cebu City. Then you will ride a boat going to your rented cottage for only 20 Pesos. People in the area know about this place so for sure you will not be lost. You can also ride a taxi to drop directly at the port or a private car, They have a parking area at the port you can rent for a cheap price. Just navigate it with Waze or Google Maps to guide you the way.
A Little Disappointment 😌
I'm an avid Traveler, I love roaming around, exploring, and discovering new places and I appreciate the beauty of nature and how amazing it is. I'm sad in a situation that can lead nature into distraction just like what I saw in the area of Floating Cottages in Cordova. I saw a few pieces of garbage on the sea deck of these floating cottages. Like plastic bags, empty plastic bottles, and even a paper plate. I ask the caretaker if they have Clean up activity in the area or some maintenance and it shocks me that they don't have. I talked to the caretaker and tell them what may happen in the future if they neglect those garbages, the possibility of losing the operation of their cottages in this place. I hope the Tourism Management of the area will notice it as early, It is just a few pieces of the garbage but it can ruin nature.

Theirs a bigger cabin actually on the area that can accommodate 50 person. I was amaze of this cabbins.

Ohhh, thats a worst news, the one we rented out had a portable Cr. Naa siyay tank to stored the residues. Hoping the government will notice this.

Yes, this place I think is just 15 minutes from the 10k roses, If you remember in the corner of Gaisano Grand, you just straight it ahead and a few minutes you will be in the port of Cordova.
What an incredible place! You have had a wonderful trip. The environment where these dwellings prevail is out of this world, the water looks so good too.

Wait, is this the place where it was featured in news that it may be closed to the public due to its high coliform level? If not, I must say that this place is a must to visit. The water is so calm and the prices are very affordable. Also, one should just really be careful with huge crowds since we are still dealing with a pandemic. 😀

That is a very interesting concept. Floating cottages are perfect for group day outings. I hope they do something about the garbage floating around the area. Trash can seriously put off any visitors and affect their business badly.
