Hello itinerants all over the world and hive community! What's up with you guys? It's another year that brings new hopes, new goals and new experiences! It's pretty difficult to be as optimistic as we were in pre-pandemic but we have to believe that things are going to be okay and move forward until this dilemma will come to an end.
Many things have changed when it comes to travelling. We all have to adjust to this new normal thing in order for us to be safe and make the people around us away in danger too. And I know it's also important for us to get out of our cages once in awhile and travel somewhere else to keep ourselves sane and help rebuild the economy.
For today's travel blog episode, I am bringing you here again in our hometown and we are going to explore some tourist attractions so that when you're able to travel in the future and happens to visit Surigao City, you can actually make use of this as a reference. I am really fond of staying at coffee shops and restaurants with relaxing ambiance so I can unwind and sometimes I bring my laptop so I can just work at the same time. I am glad that I've found this place since it's by the beach and the place gives you an island vibe. So here it is, I am very much excited to share it with you all.
Hide Out is a beachside cafe, restaurant & a lounge bar located in San Juan-Sabang-Lipata Coastal Rd, Surigao City, Surigao del Norte. I am giving you a heads up that it's a little struggling to find the location since it is not along the road. We just took a tricycle and told the driver to alight us off at Hide Out or Suno Hostel. It actually took us time to find the place because they have a very small signboard that says Suno Hostel and during that time it wasn't really that popular yet. If you plan to bring a car it would be a bit difficult for you to find a parking space since the street is narrow and there are also houses nearby. Moreover, it's actually muddy sometimes specially during rainy days.
Upon entering, you'll see this wooden bridge and signboard which means that you're just a couple of minutes away from the restaurant. I actually find it scary because I just imagine that there might be crocodiles underneath haha.
Despite of its location, I can really tell that everything is worth it. Time seems really slow while staying here and it has unique outdoor dining experience with its beach view in front of it. Though the beach is not as beautiful as in commercialized islands but the breeze and the tranquility really makes you feel like you are out of town and you've finally escaped the hustle and bustle in the city. They also organize activities during Holidays and put up decorations based on the themes so better get updated from their social media pages to know more about it.
They have wooden chairs and tables by the beach. I was actually satisfied with my experience because I was able to enjoy the fresh air and the scenery while having my pizza. They also have internet connection so if you are a digital nomad like me, I guess you'll definitely like this place too. There are only times that the coastal area has some trashes , probably the wastes only come from other places which have been brought by the current. I just hope that they clean the area from time to time. The area is quite spacious so you can really enjoy your space alone or with some friends.
They serve appetizers(Mozarella sticks, Pomelo Salad, Calamares and Hummus.) rice meals, pizza, happy bowls (Mexican red rice with meat, beans and salad.), sizzling (sisig and squid.) You can also enjoy your kind of drink from beers to cocktails. We just ordered pizza and a bottled water because to be honest their cuisines are quite pricey.
It's also best to try staying here at night because the place is well lit and sometimes they do bonfires. You can also lay on the ground and do stargazing with friends. Before the pandemic, they normally had events and parties which is really good to meet locals and foreigners I guess these days they still do but with specific guidelines and might accommodate limited number of people.
I really don't have much complaints aside from the price and the coastal area sometimes has plastic wastes. Overall, I did have a good time and I also commend the staff because they seem friendly and when it comes to the place I'm telling you over and over again that it's very cozy and definitely one of the best places to relax in the city.
In case you want to know their Menu. Here it is,
That's basically it,
