Hai Van Pass #741 - Nature is the best teacher!

in Worldmappin3 years ago (edited)

Hello my friends,

Christmas is coming, Wishing you warmth and good cheer.
Today I want to share with you a beautiful place in the part of Central Viet Nam.

image.png

Hai Van Pass is located between the border of Da Nang city and Hue province - Vietnam is known for its poetic beauty, winding roads along the coast. This is also a paradise for camping enthusiasts.

But instead of camping in a famous place like Van Village, we decided to camp at a location discovered by a member of the group, he called Hai Van 741 ( this is its position above sea level ).

image.png

To get here, we started from Da Nang city center at 2 pm. Traveling by motorbike towards Hai Van pass, instead of running to the middle of the pass, we turned into a small road. The path is surrounded by trees, following the path, going deep into the forest.

image.png

It's summer now, so even though it's afternoon, the heat is quite intense. After riding a motorbike for a while, to the big stone roads standing tall, we left the bikes at bottom of the mountain
and started the trek.

The whole group of 10 people, walking and talking loudly, stories without beginning or end to make the journey shorter. We passed through a melaleuca forest, where people exploit melaleuca.

Myrtle - Encountering childhood memories
Next is a Myrtle forest, for those of you who don't know. Myrtle is a common tree in the forest, it bears fruit in the summer. Purple flowers and sweet fruit, the typical sweetness of the mountains. Myrtle is associated with the childhood of many people, there are even songs written about this special tree.

image.png

Nowadays, myrtle is grown as an ornamental plant in gardens or parks. We walked in the middle of the road filled with the aroma of ripe fruit as if we were going back to the days when we were kids, we also went around looking for myrtle to eat.

image.png

Following the path, we climbed the towering hills, then downhill again. We support each other, it's getting late in the afternoon, the fog gradually appears. Although walking sweating, the cold of the mountains also crept into the skin.

image.png

image.png

We constantly stopped, both to relieve fatigue and admire the poetic scenery of Hai Van. Hai Van is big and beautiful to the point of infatuation. The deeper you go into the forest, the more you appreciate each piece of land, each tree, they contribute to the overall beauty of this place.

Raising cows on the mountain pass
After more than 2 hours of climbing, we reached our destination. It was an empty lot, nothing but trees and cows :))
To be honest, I was a bit surprised that there were so many cows grazing here, but this is obvious. People at the bottom of the mountain herd cows up the mountain, the cows just graze.

image.png

At night, people tie them to trees so they don't get lost. On summer days that rarely rain like this, that's fine. In the rainy season, people will graze cows near their houses, and in the evening they can go to warm barns.

image.png

We split up to clean up the campsite, look for firewood because it's dark in the forest, and the temperature is quite low, and use firewood for cooking. The food we bring up is pre-prepared, very easy to cook. All the members sat together by the fire, telling each other about the legends and stories around the Hai Van pass, about the beautiful city - Da Nang that we fell in love with.

image.png

At 8 pm, the food is served, in the cold weather, the silence of the mountains. Bringing people closer together.

image.png

The dew drops, making everything more shimmering and fanciful. After dinner, we went to see every little corner of the camping site.
And what a wonderful surprise!

image.png

image.png

Looking down from the high cliff, you can see a whole corner of Da Nang city with many sparkling lights. Seeing this, I realized that we had been away from the city for a long distance.

image.png

At night, we slept in warm huts, recuperating for the journey back tomorrow. When the water we brought ran out, the boys split up to find a source of spring water. They left early in the morning, going to the place to get water for about 1 hour. And the sweetness of spring water is the result we receive.

A trip with many valuable experiences. Enjoy every moment of being immersed in nature, listening to the heartbeat, looking at the simple and genuine beauty, which has long been absorbed by busyness. We feel peaceful!

how great the view is, this place is really very special. so far vietnam was not on my travel list, but that has changed! Interesting that people tie the cows to trees so they don't get lost. As long as they do not tip over the trees haha

Thanks @katrin-lux
They can't jump over trees, but small trees can knock over 😹 hope one day can meet you in Viet Nam
