Hello there!
I hope December is treating you well!
Recently I've shared a post about my visit to village Shili and here's the link, if you missed.
It was an incredible visit and in today's blog you will get to know what happened next at this beautiful place in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh.
We walked through the dense forest where thewind hits you in the face and it's crispness left you wild awake. The place was incredibly beautiful and there was a ground in between, providing you a perfect space to spend time in the open with nature and here I drenched myself in the morning sunrays.
But this isn't all, the place was full of surprises and after a small trek of half an hour we reached at a holy place. A place where God resides himself, between the Himalayas. Ever wondered why Himachal is called as the the land of Gods?
Well, cause of its rich religious and cultural heritage and the numerous temples dedicated to different Gods the state is called "Dev Bhoomi"
Before entering the temple there are some rules you must follow, and they include -
- Eatables are not allowed inside
- Enter barefoot
- Photography isn't allowed inside the temple
Priest of the temple are quite strict and they don't allow any mistakes, if you are entering the temple, you must follow rules and act accordingly.
Here's how the temple looks like from a distance. This temple is dedicated to lord Shiva and it attracts devotees, tourists as well and adventure seekers. It's a blend of beauty and adventure, where people from different age groups enjoy and take blessings for the God.
This temple is made in traditional Himachal temple design which is rich in culture and heritage and the material used is wood and stone. Such material is easily available and in Himalayas it's difficult to carry material from different areas, that's why people have used the locally available material and they have utilised it fully and perfectly.
If you have ever visited a Siva temple before then you must know the significance of Nandi statue. You will be amazed to know that Nandi is vehicle or you can also call it vahan of lord Shiva. The statue is made up of white marble and the bull is made in sitting position with calm and ease.
The temple itself is age old and its rich architecture take you back in time where increadible building are constructed using the material available locally. This is made up of stone available in upper Himachal region and with the help of different instruments they are made in such ways that no air passes through them when placed one above another. Dated back to 19th century this temple is a gem in itself and it's architecture is worthy of praise.
At Himalayas between a dense forest this is all you could expect, a freezing cold water. It's not surprising to know but now you all can guess the temperature here. It's not an easy task to live here. Ever wondered why all God have temples at hill top? It's cause during eons back when they were here, they wanted to meditate at such a place where no one disturb them. So they have choosen Himalayas, but not people have explored each and every mountain out of curiosity so the holy places aren't hidden anyone.
As the beauty of this place and the picturesque landscape has attracted lots of tourists, and like every other famous spot this place has also accumulated lots of garbage. People don't care unless they have to face consequences.
But no need to worry, people of this area have figured out the perfect use of plastic bottles. They have created a beautiful art out of it, which is quite interesting and cute. Creating art doesn't mean that they are encouraging people to spread more garbage and plastic, they are simply doing what best can be done with them.
We all know how harmful plastic is for our mother earth and how long it takes to degrade. So better not use and go for something reusable.
That's all for today's blog. Hope you got some insight and foresight about the Hindu temple and religion.
