This is the Part 3 of my Vacation at Eastern Samar. Sharing with you the things we did and places we've been on my first 2 days at GUIUAN.
After meeting @explorewithsasha 's aunties, I found out that they were really good cooks. That is why I never went hungry during my stay at their home. Today's blog would be filled with some of the foods we prepared for a special day of my friend so be ready to drool and visiting places around Guiuan, especially the church in town.
I have mentioned from Part 2 that on my first day, we went to Guiuan's newly opened shopping mall, J&F Shopping Mall. As we entered the mall, it smelled fresh and everything was brand new, just like a newly constructed shopping center. The ceiling, the lights, the ventilators, the escalators, and the items they sell. I find it similar to UNITOP here in Cebu. It has three floors for shopping. Aside from this mall, Guiuan also has Mr. DIY, NOVO, and Prince Warehouse to choose from.
We also went for little shopping to buy container and some ingredients at Prince Warehouse because auntie Elvie is going to make a non-bake mac and cheese we were asked to buy the containers for it.
It's Foods Time! π§βπ³π΄
The next day was very special for my friend Sasha as it was her mom's death anniversary, so we prepared foods for their visitors and relatives. It was a busy morning and I helped them prepare the foods before lunch time.
Β
These are just few of the foods they have. They also preparedPork Humba, Tocino, Pancit bihon and fruit salad as desert. I was not able to take a photo during the presentation of the foods on the table but all I can say is, I was so full. Everything tastes great.ππ
Let the explore begin! π΅οΈπ
This was also the time when I first visited and entered their Public Market which is only walking distance from their house. It seems everything within the town feels like just a walking distance from each other because they were all pretty accessible and near from one store to another. But because it was too hot at the time, we have to take a ride.
We didn't go further their wet market area because we only bought some vegetables to mix for Kinilaw but I do think that the market is just enough for the people of Guiuan. Not too big, but not that small. It was just near by the sea and their transport terminal, so they're pretty abundant of various fishes.
Being a fishing community and the only municipality with the most number of island barangays, the town is rich in fishery and aquatic resources. It is considered by the fisheries authorities as the best fishing belt in the region.
In the afternoon, I was invited by Sasha to join her and attend a mass at Immaculate Conception Parish Church
Since their main language is "Waray", the mass is also in waraynon. So I wasn't really able to understand the gospel however, I still do my prayers silently and tries to get what the gospel tries to entail.
I was truly amazed and captivated by how wonderfully the church was very well preserved after so many weather devastation it went through, the people of Guiuan have hold their faith and hope just how strong their church have stood.
It was a beautiful experience hearing my first mass in waraynon, in a historic church at the same time in a peaceful, calm town of Guiuan. This isn't the end of our little tour. There's more! I'll see you all in the next one. Thanks for dropping by, hivers! π
