A little house on the Drina river in western Serbia

in Worldmappin13 days ago

In the continuation of my journey towards Tara mountain, we had one more break, next to the Drina river, before entering the town of Bajina Basta. And I always find the little house in the middle of the Drina interesting and I like to look at it every time we pass by.

Drina is a river that represents the natural border between Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

When the weather is sunny, its color overflows in the most beautiful shades of green that can rarely be seen. This time the weather was cloudy and the color was not so nice, but still, the Drina river is always beautiful and it is a real pleasure to look at it.

My son likes rivers so he asked me to give him the phone so he could take some photos too.

An interesting attraction on the Drina River, a wooden house, has been renovated several times during its existence.

The Drina, with its power, carried this house in an unknown direction several times, but the locals are persistent and always build it anew because it is the symbol of Bajina Basta town and already a very popular spot in the region.

Above the bank is a restaurant with a stunning view of the river and where you can eat trout fish as a main specialty.

There is an interesting story about this small house on a rock in the middle of the Drina river. I read it there.

It is said that the famous Serbian hero Kraljevic Marko, who went everywhere with his horse Sarac, threw a large rock from the hill into the middle of the river. He did this so that his horse would not get wet and jump from the bank to the rock and from the rock to the other bank. They even say that the prints of his hooves can still be seen on the rock. I don't know if it's true or not, but it's definitely a very special place. 😊

It's amazing how they built the house in the middle of the water. It seems to be like a small cottage. Good to stay to catch fish hehe

To catch fish, escape from everything and rest your brain. 😀 Yes, it's very interesting house...

Whoever built that house has all my respect, doesn't matter if he was a hero or not 😁 I really liked your post, Jelena. The place is very suggestive. Is it easy to reach it without a car?

I'm glad you found it interesting! 😊 It is not very far from the city, but it is definitely better to come by car.

I see :)
