Before I went on vacation, every weekend I visited some places in the vicinity of Belgrade, the capital of Serbia, with my family. When we headed to Nautical village and Bojcin forest, which I wrote about in my previous posts, we first visited the Fenek monastery, which was on our way.
It is located in the village of Jakovo, not far from Belgrade. Like every monastery, this one was at the end of the road. We arrived and admired the extensive vineyards.
We discovered that this monastery dates back to the 15th century. It is fascinating when you enter the courtyards of such an old building that once upon a time, a different life took place there. And maybe not much different because time seems to have stopped here.
Everything is calm and quiet here, there is no rush. There is a lot of greenery, and as the church is quite old, some work is underway to preserve it.
Apart from the church, there are also monastery lodgings and their renovation is also underway.
The interior walls are also being painted. We entered and stopped to see how well they do it.
This monastery has its own vineyards and winery, so you can try very good quality wine here.
What we didn't know about the monastery, and we found out when we got there, is that it is dedicated to St. Paraskeva and that her relics are kept there, so many people come to pray for the health of her relics.
They say that many legends and stories about healings after prayers are connected to this monastery. Although I'm not sure how true these stories can be, one never knows. There is certainly some reason and experience for everything that is said.
We explored the interior of the church a little more.
Then we headed to the exit through the beautiful tree line and continued our tour of the surrounding places.
Thank you very much for reading.
The images and writing are original and mine.

Visiting places like this can be really amazing, the environment alone can bring calmness to your mind
Absolutely, calmness is something you always need and you can always find it in such places...
You are absolutely correct my friend
It looks beautiful that big vineyard, I can imagine myself living there tasting good wine daily, or maybe not daily haha. Greetings from Argentina! <3
Why not daily haha!😃 They say that one glass of wine a day is very healthy! Many greetings to Argentina🤗
You've got real clear and beautiful pictures there, Capturing the sky makes it looks more real and cool.
Thank you, I am glad you liked it.
I love how it’s surrounded by vineyards and nature. It’s amazing to think about how old it is and all the history it holds. The stories about healings are really interesting too.
I also found the healing stories interesting. I don't know how true they are, but people certainly talk about them for a reason. I liked a lot of greenery around...
