Krk town, a blend of island charm, stunning nature and long history

in Worldmappinlast year

If you have read my previous posts, you know that I love the Croatian coast and I like to write about it. It is pure inspiration for me. My sister was recently on the island of Krk and shared her experiences and photos with me, which I will gladly share with you today.

I have visited the island and town of Krk several times and I already wrote about it in one of my previous posts, but in places that inspire you, you always see something new that catches your attention.

Krk can be reached via the Krk bridge that leads to the island. When you cross the bridge, you enter a zone of peace, natural beauty, island charm and friendly and cheerful people. So, let's go see what's going on there!

I am a fan of comfortable vacations and I always choose an accommodation that will provide me with comfort, good food and beautiful nature around. And a good and affordable price. 😊 That's why I liked my sister's choice this summer, which was the Koralj Sunny Hotel by Valamar.

This hotel is well hidden in the natural shade of a coniferous forest. The beach of the hotel is quite large and you can use the free sunbeds, swings or sit in the forest wherever you find a suitable place.

There is a lot of greenery everywhere you turn around.

IMG-20230807-WA0037.jpg

And a lot of beautiful places where you can enjoy the silence and the smell of the beautiful Adriatic Sea and forest.

IMG-20230807-WA0027.jpg

On the beach it is written that worries are not allowed and that is indeed so. 😊

IMG-20230808-WA0043.jpg

While you look at the blue and green shades of the Adriatic Sea, all worries fade away.

The beach of Hotel Koralj Sunny is in a bay, so the water is quite warm, which is not typical for the Adriatic Sea, and another atypical thing is that here, too, there is a sandy bottom combined here and there with gravel.

IMG-20230807-WA0003.jpg

That is why this hotel is a good choice for families with small children who like the sandy bottom. And for me too. 😊

The interior of the hotel is very neat.

The food is delicious and varied, as in all hotels on the Croatian coast. Whenever I vacationed in Croatia, I was delighted with the food because you can always expect a good offer of fresh fish, especially on the island.

When I choose a place for vacation, in addition to beautiful nature, comfortable accommodation and good food, I like to choose historical places that keep interesting stories from the past and I am very happy to discover them.

Krk is a very old town and its preserved walls bear witness to its past. The city is full of sights that are worth seeing, and the most famous is the Krk Castle. It is a monumental complex that forms the so-called ramparts of the count's power.

IMG-20230807-WA0045.jpg

In one of my previous posts I already wrote about it, and today I will show you photos from a few weeks ago when my sister was there.

At that time, a fair was held in Krk Castle with an interesting program for tourists, and a lot could be learned about the history of this fortress, which is the pride of this beautiful old town.

I especially liked one lady who made lavender wreaths, bouquets and other creative things and was very kind.

I love towns with a soul and Krk is just one of those, so I will always be happy to write about it and I hope to visit it again soon.

Thank you very much for reading.

The images and writing are original and mine.

Greetings!

Hey there @jelenaa , just want to clarify, these images are taken by your sister who went to Krk?

And you did not go to Krk when these photo were taken?

Hello @livinguktaiwan. Yes, my sister was on Krk recently and shared the photos with me. Is it ok that I shared them in my post? The post is about my personal impressions of this place based on my previous travel experience and my sister's recent experience, which I thought would be interesting to share. The photos inspired me to write a story about Krk because it's one of my favorite travel destinations. If that is not ok, I apologize, I will keep it in mind for the future.

Thanks for the response @jalenaa. One of our community rules is that the travel posts should be based on travels you have made yourself and not by somebody else. That way we can keep the community travel content authentic and original. Thanks

I understand. In the following posts, I will only share photos that I took myself, as I usually do. I apologize once again and thank you for the suggestion.

Your enthusiasm for the Croatian coast is evident, and it's wonderful that you're sharing your sister's experiences on the island of Krk. The images you've included are captivating, and it's clear that Krk is a place that holds a special charm for you. When you visit, do you have any favorite activities or places on the island that you like to explore?

Thank you. Krk is a very charming place indeed. When I went before without children, I liked long walks through the old town and sitting on the shore in the evening. And since I have children, what I love most is having a comfortable hotel and spending time in the natural shade of the conifer forest on the beach. 😊
