Hello everyone. As I mentioned in my previous posts, a few days ago I visited Kosmaj mountain, which is located near Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. I wanted to escape from the city and the polluted air and climb somewhere high where the air is fresh and clean and where I can look far into the horizon and rest my eyes from work.
I heard that there is a viewpoint on Kosmaj from which you can see the whole of Sumadia, the central part of Serbia. We headed there. When we reached the wooden tower, we couldn't wait to climb up.
Next to the tower, we saw a forest path, but this time we didn't explore the forest because we already had other spots planned.
When we entered the wooden tower, my children played a little and imagined that it was their house. 😊
And then we started to climb up the stairs. My son went first and we followed him. I was also taking my three-year-old daughter, so we were a little slow and it seemed like there was no end to the stairs.
But we made it, we reached the top and enjoyed the stunning views.
We looked into the distance and guessed which places were located where.
We couldn't leave Kosmaj Mountain without visiting the main spot and a cultural landmark. It is a monument dedicated to the so-called Kosmaj partisan detachment, which was made up of soldiers who fought for the liberation of Serbia during the Second World War.
The monument is located not far from the viewpoint and there are also many steps leading to it. It looks so small from a distance, but when you get closer you realize that it is huge.
The monument is located on one of the peaks of this mountain.
It consists of concrete pillars. To some, they resemble a star, to some, a burning fire...
Between the pillars, there is a circular pedestal on the ground, which symbolizes the eternal flame.
And what do you think? What does it look like to you?
Thank you very much for reading.
The images and writing are original and mine.

The monuments are like dancing dolphins that emerged from the water's surface, hehe...

Happy to see monuments like this one honouring the loss of many people fighting for our countries standing still in 2024. Even though we will never be able to understand their pain and the whole situation overall, it feels nice to see that the least we can do to have these moments here and there, is still a thing in 2024.
Yes, it is good that there is a memory of them and their lost lives in that difficult wartime past. You're right, we can't even imagine their pain, but at least we can mention them sometimes thanks to these monuments.
Looks like a great quality family time you had up there, the place does look rather peaceful now, but can't even imagine the history.
Yes, that's right, it's so peaceful now and the past was quite turbulent. We had a great time indeed. Thanks to Hive, we started exploring places around every weekend. 😊
Kosmaj is beautiful, I was there. I am from Serbia too 😃.

Beautiful place! I love the architecture of this monument, surrounded by nature. 🫶
This monument is very interesting and contrasts with nature, but still harmoniously 😊
