Hello everyone. Last Saturday I started my tour through the Fruska gora mountain and visited the four monasteries that I wrote about in my previous posts. Yesterday I continued this journey and visited three more monasteries and discovered their beauty.
The first monastery on the map was Mala Remeta. In my previous post, I wrote about Velika Remeta monastery. "Velika" translated from Serbian means big and "mala" means small. Mala Remeta Monastery is therefore a small monastery, hidden in the isolated forest of the Fruska Gora mountain.
Remeta in translation means desert and this monastery is lonely, but it is not in the desert. It is in a beautiful natural environment.
We entered the gate and started down the path that led to the monastery church. I've never been there before.
When I saw the church I was impressed. It looked like a big medieval castle and I felt like I was in a fairy tale.
We got closer and admired this masterpiece of 18th century architecture. The monastery was originally built in the 16th century, but was destroyed during the wars and later rebuilt. There are even unofficial data according to which it was built long before that.
We walked around the church to look at it from all sides.
In the yard there are several small houses selling souvenirs and serve other purposes.
There is also a bell tower made of wood.
And there is a long path behind the church. I headed in that direction to see how far the path leads. I saw that it led through a large apple orchard to the forest.
When I saw it, I wanted to have my own orchard that I would take care of and that would bring me healthy fruits. It has a very soothing effect on the mind and I enjoyed looking at the green expanse.
After walking around, we came to the entrance of the church and went inside.
There was no one inside, so our footsteps echoed and even the quiet tone of our conversation was heard loudly.
I photographed icons and beautiful ornaments that decorate the interior of the church.
Then one of the two nuns who live here came in and greeted us. She was very kind. With good impressions, we continued on our way through Fruska gora.
This monastery is one of the most beautiful I have seen, and its beauty lies in its authenticity and ancient, modest and at the same time impressive appearance, which distinguishes it from others.
Thank you very much for reading.
The images and writing are original and mine.
Greetings!
