#iTravel Series 1 : Golden Sands Destination Resort, Daanbantayan, Cebu

in Worldmappin3 years ago (edited)

Hey, Hey, Hey!

Do you miss the sun, sand, and sunburn mayhap? I feel you!

I was scrolling through my phone's gallery and found a number of photos that I have not posted yet on any social media platform, and that hit me. *Lightbulb-moment* I will create a blog series about my travels including the past ones here in HIVE. This gets me even more excited.

To set the tone and expectations, my series which I titled "iTravel" will showcase the places I had visited domestically in the Philippines. Soon, *fingers crossed* my future travels abroad will be shared here too, just in the most perfect time.

Anyways, #iTravel will contain specific beach resorts, tourist attractions, and etc which will answer the "WHAT" question. Then as much as humanly possible, I will add details of the location - the "WHERE", the most ideal time to visit -- the "WHEN", the "HOW" which will explain ways to get there (by car, by boat, by plane, by bus, by broom, and whatever-vehicle-you-prefer). The WHY is definitely based on my own perspective. So I won't impose.

So are you ready? Drum roll, please.

Let's go to the beach!

GOLDEN SANDS DESTINATION RESORT

The beach resort is formerly Del Sands and is newly renovated to be a luxury resort located in Daanbantayan, northern part of Cebu. The 25-hectare property greatly boasts its almost 2 kilometers wide golden sand beach. They say it is the longest sand-strip for a resort that you can find in Cebu.

Here is the google map of the location,

With Google map estimates, if you start from Mactan-Cebu International Airport, it will take you 3 to 4 hours by private car but based on my experience it will take you at least 5 hours to get there accounting in the TRAFFIC.

The best mode of transportation is definitely by car but you can take a private van for hire or a public bus which you can take at SM City Cebu Terminal. Just let the driver or the conductor know that you are for "Golden Sands" and pay for the Php 300 pesos each person which is about $6 to $7 USD.

Visit Golden Sands in Daanbantayan during summertime, from April to May, so you can really enjoy roaming around the 25-hectare resort while getting perfectly sunkissed.

The Experience

With me in this travel were my precious friends, @missfhey and @trydaily who are also in Hive. We booked a weekend getaway in advanced and belated celebration of their birthdays, and as always, it's worth keeping.

We had their birthday shots in the picturesque long stretch of fine golden sand.

Also, we never missed to enjoy the resort's children's playground that made us reminisced about our childhood years.

Plus the Kayak! Yes, we paddled it through their man-made lagoon. The muscles were worn out after.

But, we missed the biking. Yeah, you can drive their bikes through the sand to conveniently roam around the property. It will take you an hour to see every nook and cranny.

You are seeing it right. We were framed by Coconut trees.

And what's more fun? It took a lot of convincing powers to make the best friend walk the Hill Trail. There's a mountain adventure in the resort. Mind-blowing, right?

And of course, who would want to miss the fun in their infinity pool.

Definitely, the service is a topnotch, from the staff who were very much accommodating down to the food service from their different themed restaurants.

Fidelas (American Cuisines)

This was where we had our lunch on the arrival, and breakfast on the following day.

Boogies (Filipino and Chinese Cuisines)

Chillin' here for dinner especially on weekend nights is made more romantically relaxing with their live band.

Olas (Mexican and Italian Cuisines)

This is the third one. Literally, it's a restaurant by the pool that offers Mexican and Italian dishes.

Well, did I mention that you need to take a shuttle to take you from the reception area to your villas?

Here's Maya Del Sol, our shelter for 24 hours.

It was indeed one of my best travels so far. So that's it for now. Thank you so much for your time. I hope you have fun.

'Til then!
