On our family tour of northwestern Venezuela, during our stay in the Falcón state, we decided to go to a city called Vela de Coro, belonging to the Colina municipality of said state, motivated by its rich history and cultural traditions, since it is a city founded by the Spanish colonizers in 1528, being the first port of that time in the city of Coro, and whose name is due to the fact that, as its port was so besieged by pirates during the 16th and 17th centuries, it was considered a port in constant vigil or Puerto Vela, hence its name Vela de Coro.
En nuestro recorrido familiar por el noroeste de Venezuela, durante la estadía por el estado Falcón, decidimos ir a una ciudad llamada Vela de Coro, perteneciente al municipio Colina de dicho estado, motivados por su rica historia y tradiciones culturales, ya que es una ciudad fundada por los colonizadores españoles en 1528 siendo el primer puerto de aquella época de la ciudad de Coro, y cuyo nombre se debe a que, al ser tan asediado su puerto por piratas durante los siglos XVI y XVII, fue considerado un puerto en constante vigilia o puerto vela, de ahí su nombre Vela de Coro.

This city also has the precious historical treasure of being the place in Venezuela where Generalissimo Francisco de Miranda raised the tricolor flag of Venezuela for the first time in Venezuelan territory in 1806.
Dicha ciudad también cuenta con el preciado tesoro histórico de ser el lugar en Venezuela donde el Generalísimo Francisco de Miranda izara por primera vez en territorio venezolano en 1806 la bandera tricolor de Venezuela.

This city is mainly dedicated to fishing, being its main employment of its inhabitants, apart from tourism for its architectural charms with which it still has typical houses of the Spanish colony as well as its Spanish colonial-style church.
Esta ciudad principalmente se dedica a la pesca, siendo su principal empleo de sus moradores, aparte del turismo por sus encantos arquitectónicos con los que aun cuenta como viviendas típicas de la colonia española así como de su iglesia estilo colonial español.
Where we first went after strolling through its colonial Spanish-style streets was to visit the city's port, where there is a restaurant with traditional food typical of the region and where the sea has the leading role on the menu. In truth, everything we ordered was exquisite and set with a hairy landscape of the Venezuelan Caribbean coast.
Adonde primero acudimos tras pasear por sus coloniales calles estilo español fue a conocer el puerto de la ciudad, lugar donde se halla un restaurante con comida tradicional típica de la región y donde el mar tiene el protagonismo en el menú. En verdad todo lo que pedimos se encontraba exquisito y ambientado con un paisaje vello de la costa caribeña venezolana.
In this place we spent good time appreciating the calm waves of the sea and enjoying the gentle breeze that refreshed the sunny atmosphere that prevailed that day.
En dicho sitio pasamos buen tiempo apreciando las tranquilas olas del mar y disfrutando de la suave brisa que refrescaba el ambiente soleado que predominaba ese día.
Late in the afternoon and the incidence of the sun in the area had lowered, we decided to go for a dip on its beach, where at one of its ends in the sea you could see the small boats owned by the inhabitants of the area and half of work to their usual work in fishing.
Cayendo la tarde y bajado las incidencia del sol en la zona, decidimos ir a darnos un chapuzón en su playa, donde en uno de sus extremos adentrados en el mar se veían las pequeñas embarcaciones propiedad de los habitantes de la zona y medio de trabajo para sus habituales labores en la pesca.
There were practically no waves in the mas and the water had the perfect temperature for a pleasant stay in it.
Prácticamente no se veían olas en el mas y el agua contaba con la temperatura perfecta para una amena estancia en ella.
On the horizon, the sun was gradually setting and in its path, leaving a show of shades between light and dark in the sky.
En el horizonte el sol poco a poco iba ocultándose y en su paso dejando un espectáculo de matices entre claros y oscuros en el cielo.
Without a doubt, we really enjoyed its beach, its gastronomy and its history, among other things, but what we liked the most was the kindness and good attention of the inhabitants with whom they come from afar to appreciate the wonders of the city.
Sin dudas disfrutamos mucho de su playa, de su gastronomía y de su historia entre otras cosas, pero lo que más nos agrado fue la gentileza y buena atención de los habitantes con quienes vienen de lejos a apreciar las maravillas de la ciudad.
