Hello everyone. I always enjoy very much writing my posts about the Spanish cities I met in the musical tour of my choral group, and I have questioned myself several times with my wife, “if one day we migrate to Spain, in which city would we like to live?”, I don't know if Oviedo is the answer to that question, in fact some cities arise in our minds that we didn't even know, but although the breeze froze us in early spring, our experience in Oviedo was one of the most pleasant of our whole trip.

Siempre disfruto mucho escribir mis posts sobre las ciudades españolas que conocí en la gira musical de mi agrupación coral, y me he cuestionado varias veces junto a mi esposa, "si un día migramos a España, ¿en qué ciudad nos gustaría vivir?", no sé si Oviedo sea la respuesta a esa pregunta, de hecho surgen algunas ciudades en nuestra mente que ni siquiera conocimos, pero aunque la brisa nos congeló a inicios de primavera, nuestra experiencia en Oviedo fue una de las más gratas de todo nuestro viaje.

The first thing I remember when I arrived in Oviedo was the powerful breeze, it literally felt like blows on my face and it was very cold, that surprised me a lot because there are cities here in Venezuela where the strong breeze does not stop, but we are talking about very hot air and the air in the north of Spain is the opposite. It was my wife who made me notice when the breeze calmed down and we were able to go out and see the city. It was one of the places I was able to explore the most, as we spent three days and two nights here and that was enough to make me fall in love with every corner.

Lo primero que recuerdo al llegar a Oviedo su potente brisa, literalmente se sentía como golpes en el rostro y era muy fría, eso me sorprendió mucho porque hay ciudades aquí en Venezuela donde la brisa fuerte no para, pero estamos hablando de aire muy caliente y el del norte de España es todo lo contrario. Fue mi esposa la que me hizo notar cuando la brisa se calmó y que pudimos salir a conocer la ciudad. Fue uno de los lugares que más pude explorar, ya que estuvimos tres días y dos noches aquí y eso fue suficiente para enamorarme de cada rincón.

We stayed behind the historic center of Oviedo, since one block away was the Oviedo Philharmonic and that is where we had our gala concert. I think all the most beautiful things in the city are in that area, although everything seemed perfect to us, and one of the best attractions was the Campo de Francisco, a beautiful square with many trees in the middle of the city that gives us that landscape that I love so much between beautiful buildings and abundant and leafy trees. I think I walked for hours in this area and I knew it was an ideal place for us.

Nos hospedamos detrás del Casco Histórico de Oviedo, ya que a una cuadra estaba la Filarmónica de Oviedo y es donde tuvimos nuestro concierto de gala. Creo que todo lo más hermoso de la ciudad queda en esa zona, aunque todo nos pareció perfecto, y uno de los mejores atractivos fue el Campo de Francisco, una hermosa plaza con muchos árboles en medio de la ciudad que nos regala ese paisaje que tanto amo entre edificios hermosos y abundantes y frondosos árboles. Creo que caminé por horas en esta zona y supe que era un lugar ideal para nosotros.

Evidentemente me enamoré de esta ciudad y solo fue un viaje de trabajo aunque parecía un viaje de placer. Tengo la convicción de que volveré a viajar a España pronto y dependiendo de muchas cosas es uno de los lugares donde nos gustaría Migrar. La parte cultural de Oviedo es muy deliciosa, especialmente la música, donde nuestra institución ha dejado el nombre muy en alto, así que es una de nuestras opciones. Un lugar hermoso donde cada rincón parece una pequeña esquina de un gran palacio, con hermosos jardines y clima perfecto. Es fácil acostumbrarse a una ciudad de ensueño como esta, y es un lugar que recomiendo a todo el que quiera conocer España algún día.

I can almost feel the chill of that northern breeze, which must have been such a stark contrast to the warm winds you were used to in Venezuela. I can only imagine the impression your band made there. The cultural richness and dreamy atmosphere of the city certainly make it an ideal candidate for a future home.

For a second I thought the town was called olvido, but it's surely not someplace someone would forget. There must be a thousands towns in Spain at least that are more intriguing than Calgary.
Greetings my friend!, thanks for commenting. We too found the name of the city strange when we saw it on our itinerary, but it definitely captivated us from the moment we arrived. I was able to see many places on my trip to Spain, but this was one of the most beautiful and one that gave me as much peace as it did cold 😅
Every corner of Spain that you show us makes us fall in love more and more with that country 😍 I hope you can migrate there, although I find it difficult to decide which city to choose haha 😂
Hahaha, thanks Yami!, well, regarding music Oviedo can be a good option for me, as there are opportunities for the arts. I don't know if for my wife who works full time in the opera, maybe there are other options, but believe me we ourselves sometimes think about it and we don't decide either hahaha. What a pretty place! I've never been to Oviedo, Barcelona is more my speed and farther from the windy Atlantic coastline. I love the history in cities like that, and the beautiful cathedrals. You have some great pictures from that trip. Great post!

Hey, we were close to visit Barcelona, in fact the schedule was for the Sagrada Familia at Easter, but in the end it didn't happen on that tour, but I feel we will be back soon...
