My visit to Medellin, Colombia coincided with a very special moment in the city, since at the beginning of August the Flower Festival was taking place. The kind people we met there told us that they were celebrating the culture of the silleteros and despite having one day as such, this celebration lasts several days and is celebrated in different parts of the city at the same time. I had the program in my hands and there was all kinds of programming, parades, concerts and different public events in key places of the city.
Mi visita a Medellín, Colombia coincidió con un momento muy especial en la ciudad, ya que a inicios del mes de Agosto se estaba llevando a cabo el Festival de las Flores. Las personas amables que conocimos allá nos decían que celebraban la cultura de los silleteros y a pesar de tener un día como tal, esta celebración dura varias días y se celebra en distintas partes de la ciudad al mismo tiempo. Tuve la programación en mis manos y había todo tipo de programación, desfiles, conciertos y distintos eventos públicos en lugares clave de la ciudad.
What we least thought we would find inside a giant shopping mall in the middle of the city was a beautiful and colorful garden, with different flowers.... It was really impressive.
Lo que menos pensamos encontrar dentro de un centro comercial gigante en medio de la ciudad era un jardín hermoso y colorido, con distintas flores... Fue realmente impresionante.
I was with my usual inseparable group, because even though I am Jhoxiris' husband, when she meets Kimberly I am the lamp that illuminates them 😅 they have a beautiful friendship and I have adapted very well to go out with her, especially when we are traveling. I knew there would be a flower theme at the Santafé Mall in Medellín, I read about it in the schedule, but it was more than we expected. We felt great because we went exclusively to see the central floral adornment and indeed we did. We did not go shopping, we spent about half an hour admiring the flowers and then went upstairs for lunch.
Me encontraba con mi grupito inseparable de siempre, porque aunque yo sea esposo e Jhoxiris, cuando se junta con Kimberly me toca ser la lámpara que los alumbra 😅 tienen una amistad hermosa y me he adaptado muy bien a salir con ella, especialmente cuando estamos de viaje. Sabía que habría una temática de flores en el Centro Comercial Santafé de Medellín, lo leí en la programación, pero fue más de lo que esperábamos. Nos sentimos muy bien porque fuimos exclusivamente a conocer el adorno floral central y de hecho así fue. No fuimos de compra, estuvimos como media hora admirando las flores y luego subimos a almorzar.
These pictures above were our first impression when we arrived at the heart of the mall. If you ever visit the city of Medellin between late July and early August, possibly you will coincide with this Flower Festival, so my recommendation is to look for the schedule of activities, surely some of them will be near you, we are talking about around 100 public events; but whatever you do, this mall is unmissable in this season, because according to the people here always make an extraordinary flower arrangement that surpasses itself year after year.
Estas fotografías de arriba fueron de nuestra primera impresión al llegar al corazón del centro comercial. Si alguna vez visitan la ciudad de Medellín entre finales de Julio e inicios de Agosto, posiblemente van a coincidir con este Festival de las Flores, así que mi recomendación es que busquen la programación de actividades, seguramente alguna de ellas estará cerca de ti, estamos hablando de al rededor de 100 eventos públicos; pero hagan lo que hagan, este centro comercial es imperdible en esta temporada, ya que según las personas de aquí siempre hacen un arreglo florar extraordinario que se supera a sí mismo año tras año.
It was a gigantic and beautiful seahorse in the center of the central courtyard made with thousands and thousands of flowers of different colors. I usually do not let myself be impressed by these things, but I was really surprised and really did not expect it, not inside a mall, I think I had never seen such a large and impressive decoration like this; in fact I searched the internet to see what I had done previous years. We queued up to take this picture above and still went to the highest part of the Santafé to see the art from above.
Se trataba de un gigantesco y hermoso caballito de mar en el centro del patio central elaborado con miles y miles de flores de diversos colores. Generalmente no me dejo impresionar por estas cosas, pero realmente me sorprendió y de verdad no lo esperaba, no dentro de un centro comercial, creo que nunca había visto una decoración tan amplia e impactante como esta; de hecho busqué en internet para ver lo que había hecho años anteriores. Hicimos una cola para tomarnos esta fotografía de arriba y aún así nos fuimos a la parte más alta del Santafé para ver el arte desde arriba.
Simply amazing. Our trip was for work reasons and not everything had gone as well as we expected, in fact this day we had a little low energy, but visiting the Santafé Mall made me think: “It was worth it to have come to Medellín”... Of course it was worth it for many other reasons, but when you have a small heart you can think of anything crazy 😅 Anyway it is a divine experience and if I visit Medellin again, which I think I will, my trip will have to coincide with the Flower Festival and of course I will come to this enigmatic mall and let myself be surprised again 🙏
Simplemente impresionante. Nuestro viaje fue por motivos de trabajo y no todo había salido tan bien como esperábamos, de hecho este día teníamos las energías un poco bajas, pero visitar el Centro Comercial Santafé me hizo pensar: "Valió la pena haber venido a Medellín"... Claro que valió la pena por muchas razones más, pero cuando uno tiene el corazón chiquito se le pasa por la mente cualquier locura 😅 Igual es una experiencia divina y si vuelvo a visitar Medellín, que creo que así será, mi viaje tendrá que coincidir con el Festival de las Flores y por su puesto que llegaré hasta este enigmático centro comercial y dejarme sorprender nuevamente 🙏
