Ubeda | A City that Stopped in Time [Eng-Esp]

in Worldmappin4 months ago

I will never get tired of talking about the wonders I discovered in the small city of Úbeda in Spain, a place that gives the impression of having stopped in time, since its architecture is still very Renaissance. Even the smell of Úbeda was special, perhaps with a little humidity, which is reflected in several of its walls, but at the same time the color stone reigns in the streets and all together, even in weather, make you live a complete experience of being in an ancient place, with a lot of history and where silence becomes the protagonist.

My visit to this city was a few days before Easter, so the town was under maintenance and getting ready to receive more people, in fact, our choral group had to stay in two different hotels, since we are many and almost all the places were occupied. This was no problem for us, since not even the bus could get up such narrow streets, so we had to walk even on the way to our gala concert. The streets were very clean and almost any corner was perfect for a good picture.

The color stone stands out in almost all the architecture of the place and most of the buildings date back 500 years or more and you can see that they are very attentive to do the right maintenance. There are several small castles, churches and political institutions, which without having entered were a visual delight. Our concert was just the opening of a musical festival that takes place every year in Úbeda, the hall of the cultural complex Hospital de Santiago de Úbeda was full and many people were still expected for Holy Week, where several symphonic groups would perform.

I found all the early spring weather in Spain pleasant, but in Úbeda it was very special, really fresh and the amount of flowers made me feel the real spring for the first time in my life. In the streets there are many works of art, predominantly countless statues, of all kinds, heroes, people and animals. The nights were very quiet, unlike other Spanish cities we found few people passing by at midnight, being Úbeda one of the quietest places we found in Spain, but just as illuminated for the enjoyment of tourists.

I have mentioned a lot some places that I hope to visit again in life, but about Úbeda I have no doubts, I must return to this place, I feel that there is little I could see, because despite giving me the impression of being a small city, I understand that every corner has history, in addition, its beauty is almost indescribable, I feel that everyone should visit and walk these streets at least once in life. Definitely, Úbeda is my favorite place in the south of Spain (so far) and for a person believing in the catholic faith like me, I am sure there will be a lot to admire inside all these facades that I share with you in the pictures.

It must definitely be a wonderful experience to be there and admire the exquisite architecture, streets and cobblestone walls. It's an amazing place and you've taken some great shots of it :)

Yes brother, it is a very special and striking town, like being in a movie with an almost medieval atmosphere. Thank you very much for viewing the post, I think I missed more photos that conveyed the beauty of the place. Sorry for the lateness of my response.

Wow what beautiful architecture, it really looks like you are walking through the past. That's what I really like about European countries, that style and architecture that they keep that transports you to the past, very beautiful ❤️

I only know Spain and you are right, apparently Europe preserves its historical architecture very well. In fact I think it's like that in your country too, I hope to meet it one day...
