I recently had the incredible opportunity to take my family on a European vacation.
We were able to stop in Metz France for 1 day, so we went to the Cathédrale Saint Étienne de Metz which is best known as the Metz Cathedral. This cathedral features 6,496 m2 (69,920 sq ft) of stained glass for which it received the nickname la Lanterne du Bon Dieu ("the Good Lord's lantern") or the Lantern of God. I got some pretty good pictures, but they don't do it justice and I was there on a rainy day, so I expect that it's even more impressive on a sunny day.
I'm no expert on cathedrals, but I have been to Notre Dame in Paris and this one is better. If you get the chance to visit, I highly recommend it.
While in Metz we also visited the Musee de La Cour d'Or which features lots of artifacts from the Roman bath's that had been in the area along with some beautiful paintings and additional information on the Metz Cathedral.
I would have liked to visit the smaller Eglise Saint Maximin, but there just wasn't time. It was free to visit the Metz Cathedral and the museum which was a short walk away. We were able to park in a garage across the street from the cathedral and there was sort of a shopping mall above the parking garage where we had some excellent food at modest prices.

I hope that you've enjoyed my post. Thanks for all the comments, upvotes and reposts. Let me know if there's anything I can do to make these posts even better in the future.

A very beautiful place, the appearance of the building is very interesting, very beautiful ❤️

Thank you for sharing such a wonderful adventure. It's good for those people who can't afford to go abroad to travel for now. It's such an honor to see wonderful pictures from your adventure. :))

It is a gorgeous cathedral. I once went there after seeing Metz play football.

Wow, such a majestic structure. The glass windows are so stunning. There are different intricate designs in every space of this magnificent cathedral. I am in awe of its size and beauty. Many thanks for showing us this beautiful creation.
