Today I woke up early as usual, so by 6:30 AM I had already had breakfast and a hot cup of coffee, watered the plants and fed my cats and dogs. My wife and daughter were still sleeping peacefully not realizing that today was a nice Monday with clear skies and a cool breeze blowing in from the North. So I decided to take my camera and head for the northernmost end of the valley. I wanted to try to climb the “El Marquero” hills again and check if my physical condition had improved noticeably thanks to my constant hiking on mountain trails, which I have been doing quite often for a couple of months now... I'm not really very disciplined about it, but I'm doing it quite often... So that's how my morning hike started today and I ended up with a bunch of photos and stories to share with you on #Hive!....
Hoy desperté temprano como siempre, así que a las 6:30 AM ya había desayunado y bebido una taza de café caliente, también había regado las plantas y alimentado a mis gatos y perros. Mi esposa y hija aún dormían plácidamente sin percatarse de que hoy era un lindo Lunes con cielos limpios y brisa fresca solando desde el Norte. Así que decidí tomar mi cámara y poner rumbo hacia el extremo más al norte del valle. Quería intentar subir nuevamente a las colinas de "El Marquero" y comprobar si mi condición física había mejorado sensiblemente gracias a mis contantes caminatas en caminos de montaña, las cuales estoy haciendo con bastante frecuencia desde hace un par de meses... En realidad no soy muy diciplinado al respecto, pero sí que lo estoy haciendo con bastante frecuencia... ¡Así fue entonces como comenzó mi caminata matutina de hoy y terminé con un montón de fotos e historias para compartir con ustedes en #Hive!...

Well, I'm basically “a guy taking pictures, trying to exercise to be able to take more pictures” so my intention is not exactly hiking but to be able to go further around my town and take pictures there without having to be rescued by anyone due to collapse... hahaha :)) So that's what this is all about and I have to confess that today I checked that my physical condition has sensibly improved. I got less tired while climbing, I was able to go further and higher today and I could even “talk to friends” while climbing up the trail without them having the impression that I was about to faint... But let's move on and I'll tell you more about it...
Bueno, en realidad yo soy básicamente "un tipo tomando fotos, procurando ejercitarse para poder tomar más fotos" así que mi intención no es precisamente hacer senderismo sino poder llegar más lejos en los alrededores de mi pueblo y hacer fotos allí sin que tenga que ser rescatado por nadie debido a un colapso... hahaha :)) Así que de eso se trata esto y tengo que confesar que hoy comprobé que mi condición física ha mejorado sensiblemente. Me he cansado menos al subir, pude llegar más lejos y más alto hoy e inclusive pude "hablar con amigos" mientras subía por el camino sin que ellos tuviesen la impresión de que estaba a punto de desmayarme... Pero sigamos adelante y les contaré más al respecto...

Just at the beginning of the ascent I was lucky enough to meet my friend “Silvino Lopez” who greeted me and told me that he knew me when I was a young man and used to ride my motorcycle on the roads of the mountain “La Copa” and then Silvino lived there... But that was almost thirty years ago!... So, although Silvino recognized me immediately, I had completely forgotten him... What a memory mine is, but that's me!... Well, anyway, Silvino and I started talking and he told me that he had some land in the highest part of the mountain, but that to get there he used shortcuts by steeper paths but which saved stretches of travel avoiding the main road. Silvino also invited me to follow him on those “shortcuts” and... That's how I definitely proved that my physical condition has improved, because otherwise I would not have been able to keep up with Silvino!...
Justo al comenzar el ascenso tuve la suerte de encontrarme con el amigo "Silvino López" quien al verme me saludó y me dijo que él me conocía de cuando yo era un un hombre joven y solía pasear en motocicleta por los caminos de la montaña "La Copa" y entonces Silvino vivía allá... ¡Pero de eso hacen casi treinta años caray!... Así que, aunque Silvino me reconoció de inmediato, yo le había olvidado por completo... ¡Vaya memoria la mía, pero así soy yo!... Bueno, sea como sea, Silvino y yo comenzamos a hablar y me dijo que él tenía algunas tierras en la parte más alta de la montaña, pero que para llegar allí él utilizaba atajos por senderos más inclinados pero los cuales ahorraban tramos de trayecto evitando el camino principal. También Silvino me invitó a seguir con el por esos "atajos" y... ¡Así fue como definitivamente comprobé que mi condición física ha mejorado, porque de lo contrario no habría podido seguir el ritmo de Silvino!...

I have no photos of the ascent through Silvino's “shortcuts”, the pace that my friend imposed was really amazing and demanded from me all my concentration and will... It was an impressive ascent and after 45 minutes we were again about to join the main road, but at a point I had never reached since my youth. For a moment I had the feeling that we had gone through some kind of “portal” which had made us appear there.... Wow, Silvino knows how to save time at the cost of effort!.... Then we stopped and in a wide dismounted viewpoint and there Silvino, without the slightest sign of tiredness, began to point out places in the whole valley and to provide information... We were there a little more than half an hour and then I, knowing my limitations, decided to return and do it by the main road. Which, although much longer, made me feel more relaxed...
No tengo fotos del ascenso por los "atajos" de Silvino, el ritmo que mi amigo impuso fue realmente asombroso y exigió de mi toda mi concentración y voluntad... Fue un ascenso impresionante y al cabo de 45 minutos estábamos de nuevo a punto de encontrarnos en el camino principal, pero en un punto al cual jamás yo había llegado desde mis años de juventud. Por un momento tuve la sensación de que habíamos atravesado una especie de "portal" el cual nos había hecho aparecer allí... ¡Vaya que Silvino sabe como ahorrar tiempo a costa de esfuerzo caray!... Entonces nos detuvimos y en un amplio mirador desmontado y allí Silvino, sin la menor señal de cansancio, comenzó a señalar lugares en todo el valle y a proveer información... Estuvimos allí poco más media hora y entonces yo, conociendo mis limitaciones, decidí retornar y hacerlo por camino principal. El cual, aunque mucho más largo, me hacía sentir más relajado...

On my way back, I had another fortunate encounter on the road. This time it was my friend Elio, better known as “El Vespa”, who suddenly appeared behind me on his motorcycle and stopped to talk to me for several minutes...
Ya de regreso, tuve otro afortunado encuentro en el camino. Esta vez se trato de mi amigo Elio, mejor conocido como "El Vespa" quien apareció repentinamente a mis espaldas en su motocicleta y se detuvo a conversar conmigo durante varios minutos...

Elio is a good friend from the time when I was a young man... Elio is a blacksmith, musician, environmentalist, farmer, sculptor, Bob Marley fan and who knows what else!... Elio has a hut at the top of “El Marquero” and that place is famous for its beauty and its good state of preservation. During our meeting on the road Elio told me that he had met Silvino and he had told him that I had reached much higher this time. So Elio very kindly said to me: “The next time you ascend, you have to get to my mountain hut, and there you can spend the night if you like”... Wow!... Then I already have a place to stay in case I get too late on a mountain hike here in “EL Marquero”... I thanked Elio for his offer and after taking a portrait of him he continued on his way to town and I continued the final phase of my descent to the flat part of the road.
Elio es un buen amigo desde los tiempo de mi juventud... Elio es herrero, músico, ambientalista, agricultor, escultor, fanático de Bob Marley y quien sabe que cosas más... Elio tiene una cabaña en lo más alto de "El Marquero" y ese lugar es famoso por su belleza y por su buen estado de conservación. Durante nuestro encuentro en el camino Elio me dijo que se había encontrado con Silvino y este le había dicho que yo había llegado mucho más alto esta vez. Así que ELio muy amablemente me dijo: "La próxima vez que asciendas, tienes que llegar mi cabaña, y allí podrás pernoctar si gustas"... ¡Wow!... Entonces ya tengo un lugar en donde quedarme en caso de que se me haga demasiado tarde en un paseo de montaña aquí en "EL Marquero"... Le agradecí a Elio su oferta y después de hacerle un retrato él siguió su camino rumbo al pueblo y yo continué la fase final de mi descenso a la parte plana del camino.

The final phase of the road was relaxing and I just enjoyed the surroundings and took some casual pictures while I thought a bit about my next strategy to come here again. I have daily things to do at home, so I will surely have to plan everything well and move some things forward. Especially if I want to accept Elio's offer and spend the night in the cabin and then come down the next day.... Who knows, maybe before doing this I will go early in the morning and return in the afternoon... Of course, no matter how I do it, you will have pictures of it here on #Hive as well as the story about this future trip... ;)
La fase final del camino fue relajante y me dediqué a disfrutar el entorno y hacer algunas fotos casuales mientras pensaba un poco acerca de mi próxima estrategia para venir acá nuevamente. Diariamente tengo cosas para hacer en casa, así que seguramente tendré que planificar bien todo y adelantar algunas cosas. Especialmente si quiero aceptar la oferta de Elio y pernoctar en la cabaña para luego descender al día siguiente... Quien sabe, quizás antes de hacer esto vaya un día temprano y retorne ya llegada la tarde... Eso sí, indistintamente de como lo haga, tendrán ustedes fotos de esto aquí en #Hive así como la historia de ese futuro paseo... ;)

My previous mountain trail to “El Marquero” was earlier this year and as I said at the beginning of this post, that time I didn't go as high and I hiked a different path than the shortcuts I followed with my friend Silvino this time. ADDITIONAL TECHNICAL NOTE: Photographs captured with my Nikon D7000 DSLR camera in RAW format, then processed in Adobe Camera RAW for adjustments regarding light, sharpening, contrast and depth... They were then exported to JGP format on which minor modifications such as straightening and adding watermarks were carried out using PhotoScape 3.6.3.
NOTA TÉCNICA ADICIONAL: Fotografias capturadas con mi cámara DSLR Nikon D7000 en formato RAW, procesadas posteriormente en Adobe Camera RAW para ajustes relativos a luz, afilado, contraste y profundidad... Luego fueron exportadas a formato JGP sobre el cual se llevaron a cabo modificaciones menores como enderezado y agregado de marcas de agua usando PhotoScape 3.6.3.

Saludos amigo Jesús. Que recorrido tan maravilloso, con un guía cómo el señor Silvino, no hay obstáculo alguno ni camino imposible. Me da gusto que hagas esas caminatas con la intención de conocer, avanzar hacia nuevos rumbos y más material fotográfico.
