Finding a Place
That time, we had been driving for several hours, and everyone was getting hungry and tired. While driving around Medellin, we were looking for a place where we could take a rest and eat our food. Then we saw a Mercedes sign pointing to the plantation golf and country club. None of us had heard of it before, but we decided to check it out.
And as we reached there, we were surprised by the sight of a vast, green landscape surrounded by tall pine trees and coconut trees. The refreshing atmosphere relaxed our minds almost instantly. It was clear that this wasn’t just a regular stopover—it was a hidden gem waiting to be explored.
Affordable and friendly
Upon entering, they told us that there was an entrance fee of ₱50.00 per head. At first, we weren’t sure if it would be worth it since we weren’t planning to stay long. But once we got inside, we realized we had made the right choice.
The staff was very attentive, and we felt warmly welcome from the very moment we arrived. They actually gave some tips on some of the things we could do down there.
Exploration of the Golf Course
The main attraction at the Mercedes Plantation is their golf course. It had 18 holes, just so well-kept, and so beautiful. Well, none of us actually knew anything about golf, but the staff encouraged us to try. They showed us some basic instruction after giving us some equipment to use.
It was a lot harder than it looked! We laughed so much trying to hit the ball properly. Some of us managed to get the ball rolling, while others, like me, hit the air. But never mind-we were having such a good time.
Riding the Golf Cart
The best part of the whole visit was driving around on the golf cart. Never having been in one and cruising across such wide, open spaces was just delightful. It was stunning, especially with the rows of pine trees and the rolling hills all over the place.
We took turns driving the cart, and it felt like a mini adventure. Even the younger members of the family enjoyed it. It was such a simple activity, but it added so much fun to our day.
Lunch at the Club
After some exploration, we finally had our lunch at a small restaurant within the club. There wasn't a wide variety on the menu, but whatever dishes on the menu sounded great to us and were available for reasonable prices. We ordered local dishes, and whatever we got was fresh, looking appealing to taste.
Eating together in such a peaceful place made the meal even more enjoyable. We talked, laughed, and shared stories while enjoying in the beauty of the surroundings.

Stopping at Mercedes Plantation Golf and Country Club gave us the chance to slow down and reconnect. We laughed, explored, and created memories that I’ll treasure for a long time.
How to Get There
Mercedes Plantation Golf and Country Club is located in Medellin, Cebu, about three hours from Cebu City by car. It’s easy to find using navigation apps, and the drive itself is enjoyable. The northern countryside offers beautiful views, so don’t forget to look out the window during the trip!
Visiting Tips
• Plan Ahead: While the place is accommodating to walk-in visitors, calling ahead will be better for those who intend to engage in playing golf or dining in their restaurant.
• Bring snacks and drinks to make the visit more practical, although food is available in the restaurant; it's always good to have some with you in case you've got kids with you.
• Wear Comfortable Clothes: Most activities involve either walking or being outdoors, so wear something light and comfortable.
• Don't Forget Your Camera: The place is so picturesque that you will want to snap every other moment.
Sometimes, the best experiences come from the least expected places. Our visit to Mercedes Plantation Golf and Country Club was one of those moments for me and my family. What started as a simple stop for lunch turned into a day filled with laughter, exploration, and bonding.
If you are looking for a place in Medellin, Cebu, where relaxation, fun, and an appreciation of nature can merge into one, then this would be my highly recommended retreat. Sometimes, it is at the detours of our life that we find its most unforgettable memories.
