Sometimes, all we need is a break just to get away and be with our loved ones in a special place. Well, this is what happened when one evening my family and I decided to go to Tops. It was a trip that we will never forget because of the great views, delicious food, and amazing moments.
Where is Tops located, and how do I get there?
Tops is located in Busay, Cebu, about 30 minutes to an hour away from Cebu City, depending on traffic. You can rent a car or take a taxi going there. If you'd rather take public transportation, you can ride a jeepney going to JY Square Mall in Lahug and hop on to another jeepney or habal-habal (motorcycle) going to take you up to the Tops Viewing Deck. Although the road is upward steep, you don’t have to worry because on your way there you'll be welcomed by the cool breeze in the mountain and the scenery along the way, and I swear, it's amazingly worth it.
Why is Tops Cebu a must-visit place?
When we reached the top, our faces were filled with awe as the city lights down below looked just like the stars scattered across the night sky, while this CCLEX bridge shines brightly all the way from the horizon. It was really an amazing view. And did you know that it is the longest bridge here in the Philippines? Pretty cool, right? Tops is such a magical place, and it felt like we were out of this world, away from the noise of the city below.
Tops is very well known for its 360° panoramic view of Cebu, Mactan, and its surrounding islands. It is a favorite spot among tourists who want to get a retreat and a chance to see the city in different shades. The atmosphere is cool enough to relax. Especially at night, it looks really beautiful when the whole city down looks like twinkling stars. The view makes you feel like you’re on top of the world.
We enjoyed ourselves from the view for a while, then we decided that it was time to eat. And guess what? We got ourselves a huge pizza! It was so huge that finishing it is like a challenge, and dude, it was really good. We shared stories, laughed through the meal, and just enjoyed it—the view wasn't bad either.
Of course, the day will not be complete without a little dessert. We had mango and strawberry ice cream for ourselves. It tasted so fresh and creamy—simply the perfect dessert. The thought of having this ice cream while sitting with my family, having a share, and enjoying the cool breeze is one of those simple moments to be grateful for.
As the night grew deeper, the fog started to roll in, and it felt like we were walking through a dream. The mist wrapped around me, and it was as if I was floating between the clouds and the lights of the city below. So peaceful, so magical—a moment that I will always remember. The whole place had the dreamy, nearly mystical atmosphere created by the fog, which made this visit even more special.
That moment, while walking through the fog with my family, made me realize the importance of little things in life. The beautiful view, the time we spent with our loved ones, and the peaceful atmosphere reminded me to appreciate these simple but meaningful moments.
