Hello readers! Today marks my 4 months on this platform. It has made me realize how much Hive has helped, motivated, and allowed me to share my experiences. I'm so thankful I can share with all of you. In this blog, I want to share my experience visiting Señor Santo Niño in Santo Niño de Cebu. I am very thankful I got to visit and give thanks for the blessings I've received. Come and join me on this journey.

Before that I will give you a short details about Santo Niño de Cebu. A visit to Basilica Minore del Santo Niño de Cebu in the Philippines is a grand mix of history, culture, and spirituality. What it feels like to pay a visit to this esteemed site is more humanized in the following way:
Getting to Basilica Minore and First Impressions
While approaching the basilica, its imposing facadeᅳhistorically Baroque, Romanesque in styleᅳfaces you. Stone walls, centuries old, tell silent stories of faith and resilience. The environment had devotees and tourists; the environment is lively and warmly welcoming.

Inside the Basilica
The first thing that meets your attention as you enter the basilica is the peaceful, almost heavenly atmosphere pervading inside. The ceiling goes really high, with windows casting varicolored patterns on the floor, adding to the sanctity of the environment. The highlight of your visit is the venerated statue of the Santo Niño, the Holy Child Jesus. The small statue, clothed in ornate robes and a crown, seems really powerful despite its minute size.
The Devotees
As you watch the devotees, you feel a deep, very personal expression of faith. Some are on their knees, slowly making their way down the aisle as an act of penance. Others are lighting candles whose flame casts a glow on their faces, filled with hope and prayer. Incense envelops the air with a fragrance, coupled with the soft murmur of prayers and hymns.
There is attached to the basilica that offers a deep dive into the history and cultural importance of Santo Niño. You will have the opportunity to see various relics, antique vestments, and other religious artifacts. Each item has its own story and contributes to the rich tapestry of the history of Cebu and the spread of Christianity in the Philippines.

Magellan's Cross
A few minutes' walk from the basilica lies Magellan's Cross. Inside a small chapel, it is the memorial of Ferdinand Magellan's arrival in Cebu back in the year 1521 and the start of the Christian era in the region. Here, the painted ceiling of the chapel is a colorful, intense rendition of that historic event, adding a visual touch to the experience.
The Festivities
Come January, and the city is abuzz with the Sinulog Festival, a big celebration to honor the Santo Niño. Colorful, vibrant parades and traditional dances, rhythmic beats of drums, fill the streets. It is a festival riot of colors, sounds, and emotions, all joining hands to celebrate the deep cultural and spiritual significance that the Santo Niño holds for the people of Cebu.

Amongst all this hustle and bustle, there is a place within the basilica complex to be still and pray. The inner courtyard, with its manicured gardens and benches, is a quiet, serene retreat. I wasn't able to capture any pictures because I was afraid of being caught. Here, you can listen to the sounds of the city in the distance, yet inside these basilica walls, there reigns an atmosphere of deep calm.

I missed staying inside that church doing nothing except thinking of my personal struggles and life dramas. 30 minutes is enough for me to cleanse my soul and refresh my mind.
