Our trip to the Jewel of Kedah, Langkawi Island

in Worldmappin2 years ago (edited)

Langkawi, Malaysia's duty free island in the Peninsular. That was the location everyone headed to when the country opened up after 2 years of movement restrictions due to the pandemic. We visited a few years back when everything was normal and we got to roam around without masks!

This was my second time visiting this beautiful island. The last time I went was with my family when I was really young and I could hardly remember anything apart from the beach. It was my husband's first time too and I am glad I got to do it with him.

It was a 3 Days 2 Nights visit and we stayed at Resorts World Langkawi which the room was huge and overlooked the ocean. I LOVE IT! I love waking up to the ocean and the sound of the waves crashing onto the shore. We hired a car for the duration of the stay and it was dirt cheap! Drove around the west part of the island, but didn't manage to go to the East side where all the paddy fields and villages are located, maybe next time.

Here's what we did while we were at Langkawi:

Arrived and excited for this short trip.

First proper meal was at this Japanese restaurant 5 minutes drive away from our resort. SASHIMI! Grilled Salmon! How can we not have them!

After dinner night drive. It was a very quiet drive around town as there were very little tourist going about, I guess it's due to offpeak season. We head to this Dataran Lang or Lang Square where this famous Eagle statue is located at.

The second day we decided to drive out to somewhere I am super scared of as it involves heights but my love for the nature and scenery trumps my fear of heights! So, this was a trip to the Langkawi Sky Bridge and in order to reach the top, we had to use the Langkawi Cable Car! My nemesis! But look at all the beautiful shots I got from the trip. Looking back now brings joy to my heart and a smile to my face.

I mean..... look at how scary that is.... but, yet so beautiful!

I am already so afraid of heights and then they had this transparent flooring for the thrill of it. JESUS HELP ME! I stood on it for this photo for 5 seconds and my legs were jelly!

The closest my husband to anything with fur. He wouldn't even bend down to feed that cutie rabbit

Of course, he offers to help take photo for that couple. That's something I love about my husband, always looking out to help

Then we went to the Langkawi Arts in Paradise 3D Museum. I thought it was fun and I think the best part was imagining and acting it out for the camera. My husband did a way better job than me!

Went back to the resort for the buffet dinner and look at this sunset! HOW MESMERISING! Dinner with a view.

Our candle light dinner with very good Malay village food with a live performance.

This is what we had. I wish I had a bigger stomach! haha

Last morning at the resort and I told my husband, I must go enjoy the infinity pool though he hates swimming and the water, I dragged him along to just enjoy the view, ME! hahahah!

After checking out, met up with my friends who so happen are there for 2D1N escapade. We went for a seafood meal of course! Hooray! We can order more!

I will definitely want to go back to Langkawi again but maybe with a bigger group then go driving around to the waterfalls, eastern paddy fields and villages, go visit the Geoforest park, or maybe just splurge and stay at The Datai Langkawi! HAHAHA.... But yes, it is a place worth going and just relaxing.
