Dearest fellow Hivers!☺️ Hope you had the much needed coffee to start your day or the good cold bath to ease the warmth of summer. Nonetheless, a new day to be grateful and be blessed! Despite sharing some parts of my Chicago summer vacation to you guys, I kid you not,it was just the icing to the cake. Today, I am here to share to you the sweetness of experiencing a new city far from what I expected it to be.

Hollywood has been very well known in the Philippines as we see it often in movies. It has this glamourous luxurious vibe but in my own perspective, I find Chicago the silent luxury. Allow me to elaborate by sharing to you the core memories I earned during my stay in this astonishing city.
Biking around the city.
My childlike personality in me was unleashed upon seeing how people navigate within a city on their feet or riding this environment friendly vehicle called bike. We got options such as e bike and e-scooter, yet it will cost us some more. We rode on it for half an hour then we opted to take the regular bike to places we planned to visit in the day’s excursion. This vehicle only cost 18$ a day. Perfect for our own tour within the city and experience its most remarkable sites.
Remarkable Taxidermy in the Field Museum
We parked our bike on the designated parking spots and bought a ticket online. The place literally blow my mind with the ton of specimens they have in their display. By the way, Taxidermy is the process of preserving the dead animals specifically its skin , stuffed with materials to look as if they are alive.
We thought the museum was only about animal fossils and taxidermy but we were wrong. It also showcases rich variety of history, cultures and artifacts from all over the world. The other side of the building is a display of history of american civilization since the Ice age era. However, what caught my interest were really enormous artifacts and history told about the Egyptian civilization.
A Surprise from the Ohio Orchestra
Lucky as we can be, before leaving and ending our museum tour, an Ohio orchestra of elementary and middle school students presented several music on the museum lobby. Of course, we didn't miss the chance to witness it. It was an amazing performance and I felt proud for these young individuals a they pour their heart out as they played music with their stringed instruments.
The renowned Giordano's dish pizza
After taking almost half an hour biking from museum, we decided to take our lunch at the Giordano. It is one of the most sought-after pizza house in the city and they did not disappoint us. Everything we ordered are very delicious.
The Largest Starbucks
When we had enough of our sumptuous lunch, we took another bike ride within the city and stopped at the Starbucks Chicago Reserved Roastery. It is a five-storey building with different products and services offered in each level. First, we went to the 3rd level for the Experiential coffee. We ordered our coffee, enjoyed it along with its amazing view inside and outside of the building. Then we went to the roof top and appreciate the skyscrapers of that part of the city.
The City Cruise
One thing that we look forward to doing in Chicago after our first day is to make sure we experience the city cruise as we often waved at the people who rode on it crossing the river and many bridges within the city. So, we did however, we decided to take the evening schedule, so we also get to experience the night view of the city lights. The cruise started at 7:30 pm and ended at 9:00 p.m. Because it is summer, 7 pm is still very bright so we got the clear view of the different infrastructures along with its origin, history and background information of its sustainability through our tour guide.
That concludes our Day 2 of visiting Chicago. I hope you enjoyed this blog! Till next time ! Gracias! :)
