What's up,readers @juliuswriters back with another adventure and this one is a trip down memory lane, literally!I finally got to visit Museo de Naga and I'm so excited to share all the details with you.Get ready for a journey through time because this museum is a treasure of Naga's history and culture.
After a long day of classes my classmates and I decided to explore a hidden gem right near our campus the Museo de Naga. We'd heard whispers of its fascinating exhibits and since it was open until 4 PM,we figured it was the perfect way to unwind and learn something new.Little did we know,we were about to embark on a journey through time and discovering the rich history and vibrant culture of Naga.
When you enter the museum it takes you into a different world where all campus noise disappears to reveal a calm environment of exploration. The first thing that caught our eye was a large diorama of Naga Cebu spread out like a colorful tapestry.I was impressed to observe how the city maintained its preparations through its complex pathways together with busy marketplace and peaceful neighborhoods.
We traced our fingers along familiar routes, recognizing landmarks and pointing out our favorite spots. It was like seeing our city with fresh eyes appreciating its intricate design and the stories it held within its boundaries.
Next,we encountered a fascinating exhibit on the "paco" tree.We learned that this humble tree played a vital role in Naga's history, its wood transformed into charcoal that fueled the city's trains.Speaking of trains the museum showcased two impressive locomotives, relics of a bygone era.
One was a sturdy cargo train, responsible for transporting goods across the province of Cebu while the other was a passenger train which carrying people to and fro.It was a perfect reminder of how much transportation has changed over the years and how these iron horses once connected Naga to the rest of the world.
As we wandered further,we come across the life-sized replica of a human figure demonstrating the traditional process of making a cone or colon in bisaya.
The exhibit displayed remarkable authenticity as it revealed the detailed craftsmanship behind this historical art form. The skilled hands who worked on the cones over the years inspired us as we watched the demonstration at the center.
The museum also housed a collection of artifacts from various barangays in Naga City Cebu. Each artifact told a story whispering tales of the past.
There were ancient tools, pottery shards and other remains of daily life offering glimpses into the lives of our ancestors. Building the puzzle allowed me to connect historical moments that explained how things transitioned from the past through the present day.
One that I discovered in the Museo de Naga is this corn mill
or galingang mais in bisaya which is made of stone and this tool used in traditional way to grinding corn.
One of the highlights of our visit was the leadership room this room is a made to tribute to the city's past mayors. We had the chance to sit in the mayor's chair, snapping photos and imagining ourselves at the helm of the city. The walls were adorned with portraits of Naga's former leaders each with their own unique story and contributions to the community. It was inspiring to see the faces of those who had shaped Naga into what it is today.
Finally,we explored the museum library where you can explore and find knowledge and information. We browsed through books, old newspapers and historical documents but mostly I saw books that talk about law,I eager to learn more about Naga's rich heritage. It was a quiet space filled with the scent of old paper and the promise of discovery.
Our visit to Museo de Naga was more than just a trip to a museum it was an immersive experience that transported us through time.We learned about the city's history, its culture,l and the people who had shaped it.It was a reminder that history is not just something found in textbooks it is alive and breathing a woven into the fabric of our everyday lives.
