As strange as it may sound, nothing feels as cozy as the good old tent. I remember when my husband and I lived in Denmark for over 6 months. We stayed in a big old house with nine bedrooms, but something did not feel right. One evening Tautvydas and I decided to spend a night in the garden under the stars. Never felt better...
Nights here are cold. They make you shiver like a leaf. Luckily, the little one is cold resistant just like her father. I prefer warmth. Summer and sun are the things that I need to feel nice and relaxed. When these things are absent, plenty of exercises is something that saves my day.
Our daughter loves nature. Not surprisingly for a girl named Vakarė. It's a name as old as time, meaning 'evening' or 'northern' like 'Northern wind'. All old Lithuanian names used to be related to forces of nature and the spiritual world. They come from those times when 'Lithuanians' were one tribe amongst many that lived in this green and prosperous part of the world.
'Paršežeris' campsite is located next to the lake of Paršežeris. It's funny, but it means 'The Lake of Hogs'. According to an old legend, some time long long ago, local villagers saw a giant hog, digging a pit with his big ugly nose. Soon, the pit got filled with rainwater and it became a lake.
"In cities, there is too much cement and shoes. Culture is barefoot." - Jonas Mekas, Lithuanian-American filmmaker.
