RE: Capelinha de Fatima Replica: First in the Philippines, First in Asia, Fourth in the World

in Worldmappin4 months ago

I just watched a YouTube video about the first person who circumnavigated the world. The story obviously includes Ferdinand Magellan and Enrique de Malacca, who is likely to have been a Filipino and arguably the first person to circumnavigate the globe. The video also touches on the religious influence they brought to our country. After watching it, I came across your post featuring a replica of a church from Portugal.

Some historians honor Magellan as the first person to circumnavigate the world, though this is not entirely accurate. However, he did fulfill his mission to spread Christianity. It is amazing to think that even 503 years later, this influence still remains.

Thanks for sharing, I'm adding this to my list of destinations for my upcoming trip to Cebu!

Indeed, the Portuguese explorer Magellan arrived in the Philippines in 1521 and introduced Christianity. You're right; it's been 503 long years, but we are still practicing these religious traditions. Everything you saw in that YouTube video is part of Philippine history and is documented in our textbooks from elementary school through college. Also, I'm glad to know that you consider visiting this place if you come to Cebu, Philippines. I'm sure it’s not just a wonderful experience but also a remarkable and unforgettable one. Thanks for reading, by the way! 🤗
