Hello there, Hive! I’m back again with another Travel Serye. Today I will be ending my Ilocos Travel Series. If you missed out on our Days 1 and 2, feel free to check out my previous blog post. As always, sit tight, take a cup of virtual coffee, make yourself comfy, and let’s go on this adventure together.
We traveled from Ilocos Sur to Ilocos Norte, and our first stop was Pagudpud. Of course, we can’t forget to take a lot of pictures on our way there. Funny story: since it’s 2022 and COVID is still there, there are different checkpoints along the way to Ilocos Norte to make sure that you are entering their place without COVID, so they required our vaccine cards, and one of our family members forgot to bring his vaccine card, so all of us were held at one of the checkpoints. They said that he needed to take a rapid antigen test if we couldn’t provide a vaccine card. Since it was more convenient to take the test, we agreed on it. And fortunately, the test came back negative, and we can finally move on with our trip. But we lost a lot of time waiting for the result.
We wasted no time and drove to Blue Lagoon Beach, it is a hidden bay in Maira-ira port , the northern tip of Pagudpud. I can’t describe the place because it is so beautiful and so calming. I mean look at that clear blue salt water and white and fine sand. The beach is surrounded by hills and palm trees, and it is very secluded from the rest of the world. When you are there, you can forget about the noise of the cities. We spent 1 day and 1 night at the beach, enjoying its beauty and ambiance. After that, we decided to go to other tourist spots in Ilocos Norte.
Our first stop is the Patapat Bridge, which is the 5th longest bridge in the Philippines. It is at the tip of the Philippines. And the view there is stunning. The ocean is a mix of blue and the surroundings is a mix of green.
Our next stop is Paoay Church, also known as Saint Augustine Church. Its structures are breathtaking and very significant in Ilocos’ history. I will definitely come back here when I have the chance.
Our next destination is the Marcos Mansion, or Bahay Ti Ili; it was the birthplace of former president Ferdinand Marcos. It is being maintained by the Marcos family as a private museum displaying Marcos' memorabilia.
Our last and final stop is the famous Bangui Windmills, a remarkable testament to sustainable energy in Ilocos Norte. We just enjoyed the breeze there and bought some souvenirs too.
So that wraps up our 3-day stay in Ilocos Sur and Ilocos Norte. I hope you all enjoy this travel series and see you on my next one. Stay tuned and stay connected for more adventures ahead. Thank you, and until next time! 😘
