Night Out: Church and Law School
I’ve posted about churches a few times, and while I’m not religious or fully aligned with any particular belief, I absolutely love visiting them. I’ve gone into more detail about this in other posts, but usually, these places are stunning and filled with such beautiful energy. People go there to pour out their faith, and you can really feel that when you step inside.
This church is the Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar (Basílica Nuestra Señora del Pilar), and I visited with my nieces, Julio, and my sister. Just to clarify, faith is such a personal experience, but my sister gave me permission to take pictures of her while she was praying. She’s deeply Catholic and has a strong faith, as do my nieces.
This church is one of the oldest in Buenos Aires, built back in 1732, so you can imagine all the history it’s witnessed. The building is in pristine condition, with its perfectly white walls and a stunning baroque interior that leaves you in awe.
It’s also right next to the famous Recoleta Cemetery, so you can easily visit both spots in one trip. Even if you’re not someone who usually visits churches, this Basilica has something special—a peaceful vibe that makes you feel at home, even if just for a moment.
For my youngest niece, visiting a church is, of course, more about the visual experience. She’s too little to fully grasp why people go there, but she was mesmerized by all the beauty inside—the colors, the lights, the sculptures. She was so happy. The only challenge was helping her understand that you need to stay quiet inside, but she got the hang of it pretty quickly and behaved really well.
After we left, we went for a walk, and Julio treated us to burgers at Mostaza, a well-known fast-food chain here in Argentina that serves amazing burgers—easily on par with McDonald’s, Wendy’s, or Burger King.
We ended the night strolling around the Law School, a beautiful spot (check out the last two photos). I didn’t take many pictures because it was late, but I think you can still see just how spectacular the place is.

Noche de paseo, Iglesia y Facultad de Derecho
He hecho algunas publicaciones sobre Iglesias, y aunque no soy religioso ni me identifico plenamente con ninguna creencia, me encanta visitar Iglesias. Ya he profundizado sobre esto en otras publicaciones, pero usualmente son lugares hermosos y cargados de mucha energía linda, donde van las personas a depositar su fé, y es algo que se puede percibir al ingresar.
Esta Iglesia es la Basílica Nuestra Señora del Pilar y fui con mis sobrinas, Julio y con mi hermana. Quiero aclarar que la fé es un momento muy privado, pero mi hermana me autorizó a sacarle fotos en esos momentos en que estaba orando. Ella sí es totalmente católica y tiene mucha fé, al igual que mis sobrinas.
Esta Iglesia es una de las más viejas de Buenos Aires, la construyeron en 1732, así que imaginate todo lo que ha visto pasar. El edificio está impecable, con sus paredes absolutamnente blancas e impecables, y un interior lleno de detalles barrocos que te dejan con la boca abierta.
Además, está justo al lado del famoso cementerio de la Recoleta, así que podés aprovechar para visitar ambos lugares en el mismo paseo. Aunque seas de los que no frecuentan iglesias, la Basílica tiene algo especial: esa tranquilidad que te hace sentir en casa, aunque sea por un ratito.
Para mi sobrina más pequeña, la idea de visitar una Iglesia es por supuesto un poco más relacionado con lo visual, ya que todavía no logra entender a profundidad a qué van las personas, pero ella está maravillada con todo lo hermoso que hay dentro de la Iglesia, los colores, las luces, las esculturas. Estaba muy feliz. Lo único es que nos costó un poco que entendiera que adentro se debe guardar silencio, pero ya le quedó bastante claro y se portó bastante bien.
Al salir fuimos a caminar, Julio nos invitó a comer hamburguesas en Mostaza, una muy conocida cadena de comida rápida acá en Argentina que vende unas hamburguesas increíbles que nada tiene que envidiar a Mcdonald's, Wendys o Burger King.
Finalmente nos fuimos a caminar por la Facultad de Derecho, un lugar hermoso. (ver últimas dos fotografías). No me animé a tomar muchas fotos porque era tarde, pero creo que se puede apreciar bastante bien lo espectacular del lugar.
