Lately, I’ve been spending more time by rivers, and I actually like them more than the beach. However, when a plan comes up, I’m definitely not going to miss it.
Especially when it’s with family. We went to Cayo Azul, which is in Falcón, Venezuela, along with a tour group.
These bus tours are quite popular now, where you go with your loved ones along with other family groups, and everyone goes their own way. The prices are usually affordable, and you travel comfortably.
The only thing I don’t like is that the drivers play music at full volume. Personally, I go to relax, so the loud music has the opposite effect.
But it’s tolerable.
Anyway...
We left home very early. Oh, I forgot to mention that the bus stops at different areas to pick up passengers. They picked us up a few blocks from the apartment.
From Valencia to Falcón, it’s about two hours, depending on the travel speed and traffic. It’s a short time, considering that the region where I live has a coast.
We arrived at a dock whose name I can’t remember. We waited there for about 15 minutes until the boat departed.
The ride is about 10 more minutes. On the way, you can see the landscape, filled with lots of blue and gentle rays of sunlight that feel like a good morning caress.
Indeed, it was 8 in the morning. A perfect time to enjoy the beach.
We arrived at Cayo Azul. The first thing you obviously hear is the water.
At that hour, there were hardly any people. In fact, we practically had the beach to ourselves. So we picked a spot to sit and enjoy a day of sun, beach, and sand.
This beach is ideal for going with children because the waves are practically nonexistent, and the waters aren’t deep. Of course, if you go further, you’ll eventually sink, but you get my point.
As the hours passed, more people arrived, but even so, Cayo Azul is a very peaceful beach for people like me who don’t enjoy the party scene, noise, and crowds.
I’ve been told that it’s sometimes like this, especially during the off-season. However, during peak season, many tourists still prefer other options.
The beach, at least on that occasion, was completely clean.
The only thing I didn’t like was that some vendors were a bit insistent. I understand they need to earn their daily bread. What I’m saying is that if someone has already said no, why insist? Besides, some of them were overly familiar.
Nevertheless, this doesn’t take away from the tranquility and fun of being in the water or walking and feeling the wet sand.
One of Venezuela’s great attractions is precisely its beaches. And Cayo Azul is among my favorites. The beauty of its landscapes remains untouched. There’s great potential to highlight tourism, and it’s being done little by little.

Últimamente he estado más en ríos, y de hecho me gustan más que la playa. Sin embargo, cuando surge un plan, evidentemente no lo voy a desaprovechar, y más cuando es en familia. Fuimos a Cayo Azul, que queda en Falcón, Venezuela, junto a una excursión.
Ahora están de moda estas excursiones en bus, donde vas con quienes quieres junto a otros grupos familiares y cada quien va por su lado. Los precios suelen ser accesibles y vas cómodo.
Lo único que no me gusta es que los choferes ponen música a todo volumen. Y al menos yo voy para relajarme, por lo que el sonido causa el efecto contrario. Sin embargo, es algo tolerable.
En fin…
Desde muy temprano salimos de casa. Ah, olvidé decir que el autobús pasa por diferentes zonas para buscar a los pasajeros. Nos buscaron a pocas cuadras del apartamento.
De Valencia a Falcón son alrededor de casi dos horas, dependiendo de la velocidad a la que se viaje y del tráfico. Es un tiempo corto tomando en cuenta que en la región donde vivo hay costa.
Llegamos a un muelle cuyo nombre no recuerdo. Allí esperamos unos 15 minutos hasta que zarpó la lancha.
De camino son unos 10 minutos más. En el recorrido se ve el paisaje, lleno de mucho azul y tenues rayos solares que se sienten como una caricia de buenos días.
En efecto, eran las 8 de la mañana, una hora perfecta para disfrutar de la playa.
Llegamos a Cayo Azul. Lo primero que se escucha evidentemente es el agua.
A esa hora no había casi nadie. De hecho, prácticamente teníamos la playa para nosotros solos. Así que buscamos el sitio que queríamos para sentarnos y disfrutar de un día de sol, playa y arena.
Esta playa es ideal para ir con niños porque el oleaje es prácticamente nulo y las aguas no son profundas. Claro, si te adentras más y más, pues te hundirás, pero ya me entiendes.
A medida que transcurrieron las horas más gente llegaba, pero aun así Cayo Azul es una playa muy tranquila para personas como yo, que no les gusta la rumba, el ruido y la acumulación de gente.
Me han dicho que a veces es así, en especial en temporada baja. Sin embargo, en temporada alta muchos turistas siguen prefiriendo otras opciones.
La playa, al menos en esa ocasión que fui, estaba completamente limpia.
Lo único que no me gustó fue que hay vendedores un poco insistentes. Entiendo que deben ganarse el pan de cada día. Lo que digo es que si ya les dicen que no, ¿para qué insistir? Aparte que algunos fueron confianzudos.
No obstante, esto no le resta tranquilidad y diversión al estar en el agua o caminar y sentir la arena húmeda.
Uno de los grandes atractivos de Venezuela son precisamente sus playas. Y Cayo Azul está entre mis favoritas. La belleza de sus paisajes está intacta. Hay mucho potencial para resaltar el turismo, y se está haciendo poco a poco.
