I have always wanted to visit Pamukkale ever since I saw photos of it. It's one of the most popular tourist attractions in Turkey. It's a complex of unusual mineral springs in shallow limestone basins located in southwestern Turkey near the town of Denizli. We stayed in Denizli for one night and from there you can take a short bus ride to Pamukkale.
Pamukkale in direct translation from Turkish means cotton castle. It got its name because its white terraces are reminiscent of cotton plantations that are common in Turkey.
This whole place looks like it's covered with snow, but it's actually a travertine limestone that is formed by the precipitation and crystallization of calcium carbonate.
As you can see, bathing in these natural springs is allowed and it's a great feeling!

In the 2nd century B.C., the spa town of Hierapolis was built over Pamukkale. Today, only the remains of ancient Roman buildings, monuments, and temples remain.
Pamukkale, along with Hierapolis, was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1988.

There is also something called Cleopatra's antique pool where you can swim but is charged extra. According to legend, this pool was a gift from Marc Anthony to Cleopatra. We only came to see this and it looks nice, but I think it isn't worth the money.
Our day in Pamukkale was so nice, we really enjoyed being here. At the end of the day, we returned to our room in Denizli and the next day went to Ölüdeniz, a small neighborhood and beach resort in southwestern Turkey.
We stayed there for one night in the cheapest (and the best!) accommodation on our trip through Turkey. It only cost us around 11 euros for the two of us! I don't have any pics of our room, but you can see how it looked outside with the pool and everything.
And here are the beautiful beaches in Ölüdeniz with incredible blue sea color. 💧
I think the Turkish Riviera is one of the most beautiful in the world and the next time we'll definitely rent a car and explore every little corner of it.
That's all folks! I hope you liked this post, take care! 🙆
In the next post, we'll show you our favorite place in Turkey: Cappadocia! 🐎
