In 2014 a friend of mine had an office in an interesting house in a residential neighborhood in Accra and I paid a visit to take some pictures and document the house. The place is called the Wheel Story House. The whole place is made from reclaimed and recycled materials.
The name comes from the use of wood from the wheelst that cables come on, many of these were taken apart and used for the construction of the house.
The creativity in use of materials in this place is amazing. It give a great feel and aesthetic. The only limit in this world is your imagination and hustle.
Here you can see the use of bamboo, rocks, broken tile and much more to make a very interesting wall.
The wood is all stained with condembed oil.
When the wire wheels came the outside was clad in these tiles which have also been used in the construction.
Old coffee mugs.
The custruction and nature blending together for an overall aesthetic.
Another big view of the main structure.
A bit of tradition.
Broken tile artistically done in the floors.
Bowls and wood peices worked into the stair way.
Interesting bits everywhere you look.
Looks like picnic tables turned into some sort of awning.
At the time I visited there were a few apartment units for rent and offices. I am not sure of the current use of the space.
Room for car park.
Tile Mosaic.
Another frontage of one of the structures.
Inside my friends office space. The wood from floor to ceiling.
Art incorporated into the wood.
Reclaimed wood flooring.
Bowls into the siding of the house.
As you can see the camera that I used had something going on with the lens as the pictures were not totally clear. I was very disappointed to see this after shooting this place. I think this camera died not long after this.
