The island of Rab - a natural elixir of happiness and joy

in Worldmappin3 years ago (edited)

Although we all know that happiness is fleeting, the ancient Romans named the island of Rab Felix Arba (happy island) for an entirely different reason. The island, in particular, pleased them with its natural wealth and high degree of development.

Hello to another #haveyoubeenhere.

It is situated on the Adriatic Sea's eastern coast in the Kvarner Bay, in a highly advantageous geographical-traffic and geographical-tourist position. In contrast to neighboring Kvarner islands that have a relatively significant number of settlements, Rab has only eight: Banjol, Barbat, Kampor, Lopar, Mundanije, Palit, Rab, and Supetarska Draga. The total population of the island is over 9,400 people, which is constantly expanding but also fluctuating depending on the season.

The island was inhabited by the Illyrians as early as 350 BC, and in the first century it became a Roman municipality, subsequently developing into an important city of the eastern Adriatic coast. During Roman authority, King Octavius Augustus constructed walls and towers to defend Rab. The island's greatest rise occurred between the 11th and 13th centuries, when it had the status of a free Adriatic commune under the administration of Croatian kings and the Venetian Republic.

After that, in the 15th century, it was sold to the Venetians, who ruled it until Napoleon's arrival in 1798. The narrative of St. Marina, a stonemason who journeyed to the Apennine Peninsula and created the Republic of San Marino there in the 4th century, is one of the island of Rab's main attractions. After the Vatican and Monaco, this enclave is Europe's smallest country.

The famed Rab Fair, which attracts over 10,000 visitors each year, is the island's most important event. From July 25 to 27, Rab's streets are transformed into a medieval fair, with craftsmen demonstrating their abilities and displaying traditional wares, and crossbowmen competing in target shooting. The traditional Rab dances tanac and pojku, which are danced to the sounds of the miha - a special wind instrument, should also be mentioned.

Saint Christopher - traveler and sailor, defender against all troubles, sicknesses, hurricanes, and storms - is the beloved patron saint of the entire island of Rab. According to folklore, whomever looks at the figure of the great saint on that day can travel wherever and be certain that nothing terrible will happen to him on that journey. Some of his body parts ended up all over the place, but his skull is still on Rab.

At the Rab Fair, you can meet valuable craftsmen and valiant knights from the Middle Ages. Local dishes can be found in taverns bearing the Kvarner Gourmet label.

The unending sandy Paradise Beach (Rajska Plaža) in Lopar awed CNN, who named it one of the top ten most beautiful beaches in the world in 2012. Mel is a Kampor sandy beach famed for its excellent sand. It is accessible by water or automobile and has a large parking lot with restaurants and pubs. The beach also features a specific entrance for those with disabilities, and the southern section is designated for pets. If you're searching for something different, we propose visiting the Suha Punta peninsula near Kampor.

The Lopar Geopark, which has 50 defined geological features, is one of the Lopar peninsula's lesser-known and unique attractions. In the summer, you can explore the paths with expert direction, and you'll notice fossils, strange geological profiles, and specially shaped rocks. Prepare for a natural wonder!

Lopar is a small place on the island of Rab, which is part of the Kvarner archipelago. Lopar boasts 22 gorgeous sandy beaches, three of which are nudist (Ciganka, Sahara, Stolac). "Paradise Beach" is Lopar's largest and most well-known beach.

The settlement was called after St. Mary's church , which was first documented in the 14th century. Punta Zidine (Cape Zidine), about 2.5 kilometers north of Lopar, has ruins of old defensive design.

How wonderful it is to be in such a peaceful and beautiful place, surrounded by clear sea, spiritual peace and happiness.

I enjoyed sunbathing and got a gorgeous tan skin, and had also enjoyed scuba diving and wandering on the beach. The fragrance of the sea as well as the sound of the waves kissing the ground are magical. Rab is fantastic since it boasts beautiful beaches, excellent restaurants, and a vibrant nightlife. Nightclubs are fun, but cafes by the sea with live music are even better. On this island, there is never a dull moment.

My darling ones, be happy and do what makes you happy; it is all we require, along with health. :)

What a paradise :) I have never been there, but it definitely looks like a good spot to relax :)

It actually really is one of the best places to relax to be honest. But when I think about relax, sea-summer-beach gets on my mind. That's my favourite thing. 🥰

There are other ways too - enjoy the holiday season ❤️

Ohh definitely, but for me it's mostly sea anf rain 🥰🤗
Hope you have a great day.
