TRAVEL DIARIES: BORACAY ISLAND

After almost two years of being in this pandemic, I have slowly become more and more frustrated because I am unable to travel the way I did before. While I stay at home, I can't help but reminisce those moments where I got to travel and bond with my family. Lately, I have been exhausted about this never-ending pandemic because my feet can't help but wander.
These images were taken minutes before we started parasailing. Luckily, while I was taking a selfie, I managed to capture the crystal clear waters of the island.

For today's blog post, I have decided to once again take a trip back down memory lane to the time when my family and I got to enjoy the pristine beaches of Boracay island. Last 2017, we got to visit the island again after travelling for days via land and sea. It took us around 3 or 4 days to reach the island because we had some stopovers in between. It was an exhausting journey but it was definitely worth it.

It was such a memorable trip because I got to bond with my two younger cousins and I was really happy seeing them enjoy playing with the sand. I wish children could soon enjoy the beauty of outdoors when this pandemic ends.

It was not my first time visiting Boracay island because I have been to the island probably around the year 2007. But the gap between those years was quite huge that I could hardly remember how it felt when I first step foot on the island. My second visit was one of my most remarkable one since I really got to enjoy the island since we were able to do a number of water activities.

We were given a free tour of Astoria Boracay, a resort located a few kilometers away from where we were staying. The staff were kind enough to take a photo of us. They showed us the different amenities during the tour.

During that trip, I was able to conquer my fear of heights and deep waters because my mother encouraged me to do parasailing with my cousin. At first, I was hesitant because I was not brave enough for that kind of adventure. However, I realized that I must strike while the iron is hot and I must learn to seize every opportunity that comes. Looking back, I am glad I made that decision because if not, maybe I would not have an experience that was worth remembering.

We rode a speed boat so that we would be taken to this boat in the middle of the sea so that we may begin our parasailing adventure. I was with my mother and younger cousin.

I could vividly remember the moment when the operator released us into the open air with a beautiful view of the entire island of Boracay including its neighboring islands. I was quite frightened because it felt like I was experiencing a turbulence while on a plane ride but eventually as time went by I could hardly feel the fear because I was deeply mesmerized by what my eyes could see.

I managed to take this photo while we were up in the air. Most of the time I was just holding the selfie stick while taking a video so I could hardly find a selfie of us. The view was indeed mesmerizing.

Aside from our water adventures, I also had a fun time wandering around the island with my family. We enjoyed being surrounded by other tourists especially at night when the fire dancers begin dancing to the beat of the drums. The island was so lively back then and I was really fortunate since I was able to visit it before the onset of the pandemic.

This was the island before. It was full of life since it was filled with many tourists. I can't help but miss it!

This is me flexing my Henna tattoo. This was captured by my mother as I was scrolling through my phone and checking if she took good photos of me.

As I am writing this blog post, I can't help but be sentimental because truly the times have changed. Nowadays, travelling has been difficult due to restrictions brought about by the pandemic. Despite of life's adversities, I came to a realization that maybe I was destined to live through these times. There is a purpose why life has drastically changed in an instant.

We also got to experience the island while riding the Paraw or sail boat. We got to ride with the waves while enjoying the crystal waters of the island.

There are years that question and there are years that answer. Maybe when we see things in retrospect and maybe as the years go by we will be able to find the answer. I have realized that maybe I should stop asking why all these things are happening to me maybe I should start asking how I am going to get through all of these because life must go on and I do hope that one day we will get to experience the island of Boracay again.

Here is so cold see these pictures malee so jealous j wish I can go there too looks really like a super cool travel with the pandemic status we don't travel too and I also lost my job so I understand you perfectly actually in only travel for little trips in my region( Tuscany) it's a good region too.

Ohh wow you're from Tuscany? That's cool, Ive always wanted to visit Tuscany after watching the movie Under the Tuscan Sun. Hopefully you could visit the island once the pandemic ends 🤗🤗🥰

It took us around 3 or 4 days to reach the island because we had some stopovers in between. It was an exhausting journey but it was definitely worth it.

I like this kind of trip. The stopovers make it more memorable aside from the highlight. 😊 Also, looking at your photos made me regret not going to Boracay when I had the chance back in 2019. I chose to report to work instead, hehe. It was my first week at a new job though. 😅

Yes! We had stopovers at different cities like Bacolod and Ilo-ilo, to name a few. It was such a memorable trip despite it being a lengthy one!! Wish you could visit soon, hopefully when this pandemic ends 🥺

I think I should find time na jud. I haven't really explored Western Visayas that much, pero nindut kaayu ang blogs akung nakit-an, just like yours. Thanks for sharing your experience. 😍

You're welcome @ate.eping 🤗🤗 The perfect way to explore western visayas is through land trip jod because you get to visit the other cities along the way🤗🤗

I was thinking of traveling somewhere this week after getting back from my almost 3 weeks vacation but have to quarantine and seeing the photos in Boracay made me think of going back but this different variant of viruses keeps on coming. Lol

As in!! The never ending variants are stopping us from travelling and visiting new places 🥲 when will this end huhu hopefully you could visit soon, in the next few months 🤗

They are strict right now because of omicron, I've heard. ☹☹

Murag sign na jd na magBoracay ko balik. I was just checking flights a few days ago to Boracay. Though I have stayed in the island for two months, I want to experience it again as a tourist.

Love the Henna design and the braids. a must when in Boracay.

I miss this place 💚
