Let’s explore the #ISLAND of FRÖSÖN a bit more. Today I show you the location from the once #MEDIEVAL #CHURCH from the end of the 12th century and its current BELL TOWER from 1754 that still exists. ~ in FRÖSÖN, Jämtland County, SWEDEN. 🇸🇪
This CHURCH is located on the island Frösön what is opposite from the city of ÖSTERSUND in the large lake Storsjön. A bit inland from the observation tower I showed you yesterday. If you missed my post, have a look here: ☃️ We found an observation tower in Frösön.☃️

Location of the #church on Frösön, SWEDEN 🇸🇪 we find on the following screenshot of Google Maps were we see it is on a large island and the city of #Ostersund is just right of it:
Yes, there is even a little airport on this island if you look closely ☝🏻
I found a large document in Swedish about this medieval location. The church and the bell tower.

So let us look at this STUNNING location and UNIQUE BELL TOWER now 😊
As you can see, YOU JUST CAN’T MISS IT.
This is the BELL TOWER from 1754. It is #constructed out of wood with so many fine #details.
The stunning views over the island and across the lake in the distance. This morning was a dark and grey day. Still… beautiful in many ways.
The newer church next to the bell tower is in use and well maintained. The ancient graves all covered under a lot of #SNOW. ❄️

The top of the bell tower. Look at how the wood overlaps each shingle.
The columns and balustrades are awesome 🤩
The entrance… the steps are fully covered with snow. I am not getting closer by to disturb the virgin snow on them. It, my photos, looks so much better without footprints going up to close to the buildings 😉 don’t you think?
I really like the colour of the wood. It is very rich. The soft almost white sky… a bit of very light blue on the horizon 😊 makes this #architectural #masterwork stand out so much.
It must be very cool to visit the church and bell tower when they are open, to look inside of them.
Like yesterday when I showed you the observation tower on this island… it was out of season and most landmarks are closed for the winter. ❄️
So if you find yourself in the area of Östersund one day. Do check out this island in the lake. It is large and has some interesting landmarks you SHOULD NOT MISS!
Let’s walk a bit further away. To have a look from further away at the bell tower. It looks surreal in the #landscape. From long forgotten times…
A bit further away I show you that both the church and the bell tower are close together on the church grounds. The #graves surrounding the right building and the back of the tower.
I truly enjoyed wandering around this area with you. Such a beautiful place to discover. Especially with all the snow around us.

Inside the icy black peaks, the extraordinary houses seem to have been built by different powers. The entrances of these wooden houses in the snow are like dusty deserts. But the interior is wow. Thank you so much for sharing these wonderful houses with snow views with this wonderful feeling. All the best for your journey.
