RE: Magical Evening in Leiden, Netherlands - Nostalgische kerstmarkt ( Christmas Market)

in Worldmappin2 days ago

Nothing is really far in the Netherlands, public transport does get you anywhere in a day haha
But joking aside.
It is wonderful to visit Maasstricht during that time and het Vrijthof a large square with nice bars.
The Christmas market in Valkenburg is very unique. It is held inside the CAVES in the highest mountain where they used to mine and some stalls you find in the centre of the town. They also still do tours through the mines.
I lived in the province of Limburg in several towns and cities for about 24 years… been there a few times. 😉

You are welcome 🤗 it sure does.
Enjoy your evening!

Yea, that's true; the public transport system in NL is really good. Can't complain about it though.

I just checked Christmas Market Municipal Cave, Valkenburg, it's amazing and worth seeing. Thanks for the suggestion, I will try to make a plan before New Year...I think for the cave tour, I have to buy tickets online...24 years!! OMG...You know everything... I must admit it's a beautiful town...

The public transport is good.

Great you checked it out. It was always awesome the caves.
I haven’t been there in the last 10 + years but it should be still amazing. I left the Netherlands in 2015.
Ask if you want to know things, I might be able to help. (Dutchy here 👋🏻)
Valkenburg is stunning, very beautiful with great views.

Great you checked it out. It was always awesome the caves.

Definitely, I will and I will plan my trip accordingly...

I was about to ask you... But you said already Dutchy here so definitely I am gonna ask for your recommendation about the Netherlands. I don't think much changed here except the cost of living 🤣. I am trying to adjust to NL life because I still have no idea when I will be able to go back to Kharkiv. NL is beautiful and I received a lot of help from the people so far. So, I am always grateful for the life I am living now and for staying alive...

It would be nice if you could suggest some lovely locations in NL next time...

Thanks once again...

Sure I will give you some recommendations of great places to visit and check out 😊 where are you based and what distance is easy reachable for you? I can adjust to that and give some extras a bit further away.
Oh, I know everything changed and the cost of living just went up and up and up. Actually everywhere / every country I have been during the years I have been gone.
Yes, I can imagine. It takes some time adjusting to a new country. (I moved to my country number 8 last February) so I fully understand. Just for different reasons.

Oh that is wonderful to hear that you like it and the support has been so good.
I understand.

You are so welcome 😊
Good night. Talk tomorrow…

I basically live near Amsterdam, Almere city so I would highly appreciate your recommendation. I haven't visited the full blooming tulip field yet so next year, that's my no1 target...Probably I will go to Lisse...

Actually everywhere / every country I have been to during the years I have been gone.

True indeed...

Are you back here? Thank you for this wonderful conversation...

Ok, that helps a lot.
Yes… the tulips are awesome to visit. The large botanical garden that you have to visit. “Het Keukenhof” is in Lisse

Along the coast check out Schevening. Part of Den Haag. You find a cute museum there with awesome statues “Beelden aan de zee” Some statues are placed along the boulevard.
Check out the oldest part of this district… along the street “Keizerstraat” a cute neighbourhood.

Delft is awesome in every way.

Take the train to Den Bosch and wander the streets, visit the kanaal tour… a little boat that goes under the streets. One of my favourite cities.

If you like nature check out “De veluwe” so much trails you can wander around there. It is stunning.

Nope… I am far North / away from the Netherlands we have 35 cm of snow right now hahaha ☃️
I am still writing my roadtrip to where I moved to from Ireland. So can’t tell you yet where I am. Today part 10b was posted.

Have an awesome day!
