This past weekend, we were up in Pennsylvania again to look at a place. On the way home we stayed in Ronks, Pennsylvania. This area has a large Amish population and attracts many tourists with outlets and a theme park. Before heading home, we went to The Amish Village which is an outdoor museum that educates people about Amish heritage. I've always found Amish culture to be very fascinating, especially nowadays as my own culture gravitates in the opposite direction and becomes increasingly dependent on electronics. We drove home through the back roads of Lancaster County and enjoyed the beautiful farm scenery and animals. I do look at houses in this area, but I'm still not sure if this is where we will end up. It's a very peaceful area with great schools.
The Amish Village let's visitors experience Amish culture on a 12-acre authentic Amish property. This includes a house, a barn full of animals, a schoolhouse, and other out-buildings. It was a great place to take kids. My daughter really enjoyed petting the animals and playing in the schoolhouse. We went on a rainy day so it wasn't crowded at all. Check out my photos below:
