When I traveled to Istanbul for the first time ever, I truly had few expectations. It turned out to be a brief journey, in the end. We stayed at a conveniently located Novotel Istanbul Bosphorus. On the following day, we ventured out to discover the city, and here I will recount my time at the Galata Bridge (Galata Köprüsü), where I captured these images.
The Galata Bridge was busy with action, particularly due to the numerous fishermen along its sides, their fishing rods thrown into the Bosphorus waters below. Witnessing the large number of individuals, some with their own children, passing on their knowledge of fishing was truly captivating. I couldn't stop thinking about whether they required a permit or official authorization to fish in that area, but I never got around to discovering the answer.
However, it was evident that luck favored many fishermen that day. Several had already succeeded in catching a good amount of fish. I couldn't recognize the fish they caught, but it was fascinating to witness the diversity of marine life coming out of the Bosphorus.
From the bridge, you could also enjoy a fantastic sight of the mosque in the old quarter of the city. It looked striking, set against the backdrop of the sky and the nearby buildings. Our next stop for the day was the mosque, where we intended to participate in an audio-guided tour in order to gain a deeper understanding of its history and importance.
However, I will reserve those specifics for the upcoming section of my series on traveling in Istanbul. Currently, my favorite memory from that day is standing on the Galata Bridge, taking in the vibrant atmosphere of the working fishermen and the breathtaking views.

This is a place that I must visit some day. Maybe I can bring my fishing rod over to join the people there to fish
I'd love to get the chance to visit Istanbul one day. Sadly I think the world would have to drastically change for that to happen. This looks like it was a really wonderful trip for you!
