Hi my friend,
today I want to introduce you to the small town of Pioraco, a town famous for its beauty, food, the waters of the rivers that cross it and the mysterious path of the "Li Vurgacci" !!!
We are in the province of Macerata.

Let's go !!

Since I was a child I have been going to this place with my family every now and then I like to come back here, it is always a pleasure ..

This town is a small jewel surrounded by mountains and it is the custom of the inhabitants of the Marche region to frequent these places for their beauty, their summer coolness and to stop along the road where there are several street food points where you can enjoy sandwiches with typical grilled meat. of these areas.

Traditionally we stop along the road to buy sandwiches and drinks and we stretch out for picnics among the beautiful meadows of these areas, or we buy food directly here.

After passing the entrance galleries to the village with my car, I enter the parking lot at the entrance of the village where there is a small parking lot near the wooden houses that house some shops damaged by the terrible earthquake of 2016, so I begin my visit.

From the parking lot I can already see the beautiful and particular church set in the rock called "Madonna della Grotta", very special, it is a church hundreds of years old built entirely inside a cave with a stone facade.

Inevitable walking in the ever-green meadows that line the rivers that come from the mountains and cross the town, for many years Pioraco has hosted paper mills for the production of paper, also exploiting these waters.

Clear, fresh and clean waters that are home to trout, shrimp and much more as well as ducks and various types of birds that you can see along the rivers on foot.

The dominant element of the place is the water in this country, I immediately head towards the ancient wash house where since ancient times the locals used to go to wash their clothes by hand in the cold waters of the river, I had heard of its reopening but I had never visited it, how nice !!!

In the area I also visit a part of the country where the houses are right above the river, some inhabitants have balconies built over the river.

Walking through the country in many places water channels flow.

After sipping a nice coffee in the village bar (it too has a hole in the space in front of it where you can admire the flowing water) I head towards the entrance of the village where the rivers meet and pass under the Roman bridge 2000 years old where you can still walk ... how wonderful it is still very well preserved !!

I continue to visit the beautiful and ancient town hall which houses all the municipal offices and employees, what can I say?!?!?
It is gorgeous and houses old paintings as well as parts of Doric period columns that are over 2000 years old… wow!

Very nice is also the square behind the town dedicated to the local poet and sculptor Antonio Ciccarelli, a square characterized by greenery, relaxation and flowing water.

After visiting this pretty square, I walk through the remaining streets of the town center, the center is witness to ancient houses, shops, typical products and particular streets as always with water as the protagonist.
Unfortunately the center also witnesses the terrible earthquake of 2016 which damaged several buildings here ... some are still being restored, others have already been recovered, many of the small houses that you see being of different colors are those restored after the earthquakes that they were practically all in brick.

The city center is also home to a museum center.

Once the tour around the town is over, I head towards the nature trail called the "Li Vurgacci" but I will show you this part next time to tell you well 😉

All the photos were taken by me during my travels in this place and what I tell is the result of my experiences
