Hi my friend!!😀 Today I want you to discover a very popular village in the Marche region called "The Pearl of the Adriatic Sea" .... this is Sirolo.
All the photos you will see and the experiences I tell are my property. The photos are taken personally by me !!
Let's begin!!!
Sirolo is a village of about 4,000 inhabitants that for decades has had a great tradition of hospitality for tourists worldwide.
Tourism and fishing are the main economic activities of the inhabitants.
A village a few kilometers from the capital Ancona, is part of the Monte Conero Park, its position overlooking the sea has made this place an obligatory stop if you pass in this area.
I head with my car in the direction of Sirolo which I reach easily since I often frequent this village, if you arrive by car you can set the navigator and easily reach the village or you can reach it by bus from nearby villages and from Ancona if you arrive in these areas by train or plane.
The streets are comfortable and spacious.
Even before entering the historic center of the town you can guess what its true soul is ... the sea.
So I park my car in one of the convenient parking lots at the entrance of the town near the town hall and I start my walk along the main street that leads to the historic center between shops of all kinds and the typical white houses.
TOWN HALL
ONE OF THE PARKING LOT
Even people with disabilities can explore the town and use the public toilets as there are no stairways to the historic center.
PUBLIC TOILET
You immediately realize how hospitable Sirolo is when you see the numerous rooms for rent, hotels and B & Bs.
On the left I see the entrance to the famous "Parco della Repubblica" a beautiful green area where you can relax in the shade of the trees and if you have children with you they will be delighted as there are many games for them.
PARK ENTRANCE
In this park you can decide to relax while also enjoying the beautiful panorama it offers or especially in summer you can walk some of the paths that lead directly to the beautiful beaches and the crystal clear sea.
Many people also come from neighboring countries to spend a few hours on the playground with their children who have a great time here.
After spending some time in the gardens, I return to the main street in the direction of the historic center walking among the ancient houses of the village, the houses here are traditionally almost all white.
There are also many small shops of all kinds.
After a few minutes and a pleasant walk I arrive in the central area closed to traffic, in the square "Vittorio Veneto" also called in dialect by the locals, "Piazza Nova" translated would be "the new square".
What about this square? Simply that it is a gem !!!
Here everything is beautiful but the main element is the sea, the view you have of the sea from here distracts you, you can not pretend that it is not there, it is too beautiful and dominant.
The locals are very lucky to have a square where they can relax by sitting on the many benches looking at the sea.
From here you can also see the numerous campsites by the sea.
The square is home to many bars and restaurants where you can enjoy an aperitif, a cocktail, a dinner or an ice cream.
The restaurants on average are of a high standard and in them you can eat excellent fresh fish caught directly in the sea a few meters away.
On one side in the square you can find the Info Point where you can find out what to see and how to organize yourself with their help.
I continue to the end of the square where there is a small square in honor of the poet Vincenzo Cardarelli with a monument dedicated to the seagull, all with a wonderful view.
I can hardly get away from the square and the view of the sea, I would have stayed there to see the view for hours but I know I would have seen it again a few minutes later, so I start walking among
the alleys of the historic center of the town where everything is precise and tidy thanks to the hand of the inhabitants and the staff of the town hall.
Like most of the villages in the Marche region, the historic center includes ancient houses and historic churches that, visiting them, take you back centuries.
Walking along one of the main streets of the historic center I see the ancient church of the Santissimo Rosario, the door open and I calmly enter to visit it ... like all these monuments you can breathe the history with ancient paintings of over 400 years and the remains of the saint.
After this visit I continue my way in the main street to get to the Gothic arch, a beautiful arch that was the ancient gateway to the town, this arch is almost a thousand years old: wonderful and well preserved.
Once out of the arch on the right you will find the ancient and still functioning "Teatro Comunale" attached to the remains of the ancient castle and the ancient walls of Sirolo, which are still partly visible.
From this area you can reach other beautiful beaches either on foot (even if the climb back is very tiring), by car and by taking the buses that depart from here and take you to them.
I walk a street to the right of the entrance to the town and then take a path on the left among the gardens, houses and plants that brings me back to the square.
I have to go back to my car but before finishing the walk I have to visit the main church of the square, the church of San Nicolò, this church is located at the beginning of the pedestrian area and with its very high bell tower it has become an icon of the town .
It also contains pieces of history inside, how nice !!!!
After the visit to San Nicolò I go back to the car, walking slowly to once again enjoy the beauty of this village.
I recommend a visit here, it is a beautiful village.
I remind you of the last 2 things: in Sirolo there are several roads that lead from the town center directly to the sea.
A 5-minute drive away, it also has a beautiful golf course which remains within the Monte Conero park.
See you next my friend and I hope this place has been to your liking.
I'll be back soon to introduce you to other places in this magical region 😉
