I have always wanted to get up close, experience, and take pictures of Antelope Canyon, considered one of the most striking slot canyons located in northern Arizona. It contains narrow passages and tall, smooth-walled sandstones, with light beams shining from above during specific times of the day.
The canyon has three main sections: the Upper Canyon, Lower Canyon, and Canyon X. They all have the flowing wave-like structure of sandstone wall formed over a very long period of water erosion. We decided on Canyon X because it's less crowded, allowing us more time to explore and appreciate its beauty.
Guided tours in Antelope Canyon are a must due mainly to safety as there is a risk for flash flooding and the narrow passageways can be difficult to navigate. Also, for preservation and cultural respect, as it is located within the Navajo land, which is believed to be sacred.
We booked our tour with Taadidiin Tour. We rode in a van and were dropped off at the parking spot.
This is where we started our hike to the entrance. The trail is relatively short but sandy with a gentle incline down.
The moment we stepped in we were enveloped by towering, smooth-wave-like sandstone walls carved out by the erosive action of wind and water for centuries.
While walking away from the entrance, it got a bit dimmer, but sunbeams began to filter through small cracks and fissures at the top of the canyon and shine with an otherworldly light on the walls.
Lower down in the canyon, one moment, the passageway’s width is just enough for a single person to pass; the next, it opened into small cathedral-like chambers. However, these chambers provided some spots to pause and be amazed at the beauty of the surroundings.
The farther we went inside, the more isolated it began to feel. Every turn on the canyon presented another impressive shape in the rock.
The towering walls seemed to close in and light beams became stronger.
This is the most magical part of the tour, where colors in deep reds, oranges, and even purples seemed to dance with the shifting lights, casting a dreamlike environment. An amazing nature's artistry.
I am happy to have done this tour and witnessed one of the most breathtaking nature's wonders. Thank you for reading.

What beautiful scenery, the photos of the interior of the spouts are spectacular!
The reflections on the walls looked like abstract painting.
So beautiful place sister. I want to touch the rocks. Good morning sister.
Really amazing how the shadows and light beams reflected on the walls seemed like paintings.
