Hallo liebe Community,
Al
Hello dear community,
on the way back to our bus stop we treated ourselves to a delicious Frappuccino at Starbucks, yes they have that here on Rhodes too :-)
As we still had an hour before departure, we had thought about going to the city beach of Rhodes Town, which is about 10 minutes away and easy to reach on foot. We had brought swimwear from the hotel with us just in case we had the opportunity.
And indeed, less than 10 minutes later we saw the beautiful beach directly in front of the casino in Rhodes Town. There were countless beautiful beach bars and beach clubs here, which also had their own private beach area. But there were also a few spots that were public and not reserved. When we had changed, we jumped into the water to cool off, but unfortunately it was a bit too warm for a proper cool off. Lots of people were swimming here, sometimes with and sometimes without air mattresses, and it seemed to me as if there were a lot of locals here. A little further out, a motorboat pulled two people up on a parachute, surely a great view of the city from that high up.
A short distance from the beach, a diving tower had been built into the sea. And not even that small. The platforms were 3, 5 and 10 meters high, from which people, again mostly locals, threw themselves into the waves. Some acrobatically with somersaults, some head first and some with a clumsy cannonball. They all seemed to be having fun. Of course, we didn't miss this opportunity either, when do you get to jump from a height directly into the sea? My son even dared to jump from a height of 10 meters for the first time in his life. That wasn't because he hadn't dared before, it was just that he had never had the opportunity before, as 10-meter towers are now few and far between in Germany. Why would they? The majority of young people can't swim at all anymore. But that's another topic.
Completely exhausted and drained, we finally set off on the two-hour drive back to the hotel, where we arrived at around 7 p.m. I was so exhausted, probably from the 2 liters of beer ( https://ecency.com/hive-163772/@lxsxl/rhodos-city-old-town-part ), that I slept through the entire journey back :-)
Best wishes and see you soon, Yours
Al
