All that we pack and take with us home, and from time to time recall what we experienced there or here. New locations, new lessons, new knowledge... And even if I feel a bit exhausted at this time of year because the year was very active, even if I dreamed of just leisure in the warm weather on the sandy shore with a good book in my hands, I know that such a vacation day after day would be boring to me. Today, my husband went diving again, and I had a dream of leisure with a book in hand, but after dinner, we decided to go to Soho square for new experiences and impressions, for great memories.
Soho is a walking and entertainment area, which is located approximately in the center of Sharm el-Sheikh, in the Sharks Bay Area, very close to the airport. Right next to Soho are the expensive hotels Savoy, Hilton Sharks, so tourists staying in them have the opportunity to walk around Soho every day. The rest need to get here. How to get to Soho?
Often the guides at the hotel offer to take tourists here for money. I do not recommend it. It is expensive, and the guides will not show you anything special or exclusive. You can take a taxi. This is suitable for those who prefer only comfort. Many will find the cost of a taxi in Sharm low; after all, gasoline is cheap here. Another option - by minibus for only 5 pounds per person (30 cents).
We stayed in the Nabq area, so we decided to dedicate one of the evenings to this complex. We went by taxi and paid 15 dollars to both sides. The road leading to the entrance to Soho is also transformed at night, with glowing palm trees all around.
The entrance to Soho is on the central street of Sharm - Mira Avenue - so all the minibusses pass by, it is not a problem to get there from any area of Sharm. However, at night, be prepared for the fact that you will still have to get back by taxi. Great that there are a lot of taxi at the entrance of square. First, keep in mind that everything starts working here at about 5 p.m.
The street greets us with bright lights, glowing arches and a security system. At the entrance, you will have to go through the frame and show your bags. After all, they take safety quite seriously here.
The square itself is a long street with several branches. On the sides there are shops, a club, a little further - a café, and, at the very end - entertainment.
There are many lanterns of bizarre shapes, it is very beautiful here at night.
The square is literally dotted with beautiful metal figures. We can say that there is an entire sculpture alley. You want to examine each one, take a photo next to each one. It is noticeable that the sculptures were originally oriented towards the European tourist - no camels, pharaohs or Bedouins. But there are midnight revelers, tired muses and even Marilyn Monroe herself. In my opiniom, those graceful statues and sculptures added a lot of charm and some romance to this place.
Along the street there are also many installations, touching the eyes of those walking. The area of square is covered with lawns and bushes, full with flowers. Incredibly beautiful. So the atmosphere here is simply magical. There are fountains that turn on with music at a certain time.
There are entertainments for children: carousels, virtual toys, there is a parking lot for cars. The whole street is a celebration - everything sparkles and glows, it's nice and easy to walk here. For car lovers, there is a special place where you can unwind, as well as a mysterious 9D movie. And you can find a huge number of places for photos.
In Soho, you can do Egyptian shopping, find a lot of entertainment - from bowling to skating rink and nightclubs, and also have a snack in a variety of establishments - all the cuisines of the world are collected here. The prices, of course, are appropriate, 2–3 times higher than similar ones in Sharm.
Therefore, it is better not to make souvenirs and other purchases here, despite the temptation. Do it in the Old Town or less touristy places. We understood this and went to Soho just to walk and look.
There is an alley of small shops and souvenirs, all illuminated, beautiful. But again - everything is unreasonably expensive. But beautiful and magical, yes.
Or you can eat at a sushi bar for 350 pounds, on the all-you-can-eat-in-3-hours system. There is a place for those with a sweet tooth. A small island of candy joy. You can also buy ice cream here, 1 scoop for 1 dollar. You can sit on the terrace of a cozy café, enjoying a cocktail. Or visit a full-fledged closed establishment. Everything is as simple as possible.
The highlight of Soho is the light and music fountain. It turns on every hour for 15 minutes, if I'm not mistaken, from 7 pm to 11 pm. Nowadays, you won't surprise anyone with such fountains, but this fountain is really very cute and romantic, thousands of tourists come here to watch and listen. Both Eastern and European music are played.
The show is beautiful, the musical accompaniment is pleasant. In winter, of course, it is a bit chilly in the evening - windy, so dress warmly to watch all the performances.
I really liked that there are many "islands" with seating areas on the site, where you can just sit down, relax, enjoy, for example, classical music. And this does not oblige you to anything. Neon lighting all around, all of Soho seems pink-lilac-blue, like a giant nightclub.
Soho is a corner of Europe in Sharm. The square is named after the district of the same name in Britain, so there are elements of British style here. Although sometimes it seems that it is disorderly, chaotic, everything is piled up at random and more.
Everything is very elegant and magical. In the evening and at night (and Soho works until 3am) there are a lot of people. Compared to the day, everything is completely unrecognizable, as if you were in a different place. Everything is really European-scale, beautiful, bright.
Everything is calculated to swindle more money from our tourists. However, I don't think that Soho prices are high for Europeans. In any case, it is bright, beautiful, and definitely lifted our spirits. And it is not difficult to get here.
In general, this place gives tourists both bread and performances. During the day it is a fairly ordinary place, but everyone knows that life in Sharm wakes up in the evening. You can walk around and admire the evening illumination here to your heart's content. Admission is free.
Soho means "flower" in translation, and it is quite logical that flowers are everywhere here, in sculptures, lanterns, light compositions. The sign on the road is also in the form of a glowing flower.
If you have a free evening on your trip, you can spend it in Soho, your mood will improve, and the photos there will be beautiful. Especially since it is free. There are a lot of people, but it is not annoying, there is enough space for everyone. Soho square won an award in 2012 as the best tourist location. This place is really made with soul.
