Welcome to my newest blog. Greetings from Sri Lanka. About a month ago, I had the opportunity to go to Tissamaharama, a beautiful village in Sri Lanka. According to that, a unique feature that was seen there was the green colored paddy fields. Some people in Sri Lanka make a living from rice farming. Accordingly, I got to see that there are many people engaged in rice field industry in Tissamaharamaya village. In those days, due to heavy rains, there was more opportunity for paddy cultivation. The paddy industry is most important for rice, which is used as the staple food of the citizens of Sri Lanka. Paddy plantations are mostly spread in rural areas. Appropriate weather and climate conditions are seen in the villages. Nowadays, due to the increase in population expansion, the space in these paddies is also decreasing. Land trading activities for the population by clearing paddy fields are still going on today.
We who live in the city cannot describe the coolness and freedom we feel after coming to a place like this. It is certain that we will have that much mental freedom. Any mind that is close to nature can achieve this mental freedom. For that we have to make sure that we are in good touch with nature. It is more important that we are careful enough to do things against nature.
The place I traveled to is a village just beyond the town of Tissamaharama. By meeting them, I understood that the living conditions of the people living in that village are very simple. Their conversation is very simple and friendly. It is not wrong to say that these green colored rice paddies that I saw when I walked along a footpath-like road where only a small vehicle could travel, really brought mental freedom to my mind.
Paddy fields are a place where green and blue, two colors that perfectly reflect the brilliance of nature, come together. Among the paddy fields, palm type coconut tree plantations can be seen. Water is required for better paddy yield. A canal to transport the water could also be seen in this area.
Generally, Tissamaharama area is a sunny village. But due to the presence of cold climate in those days, there was also a favorable wind condition. It made our body more relaxed. I am really happy that such areas still exist that are not destroyed by wrong human activities. Seeing such places is surely a great fortune in life.
Several restaurants and rest stops were built in this area with a concept of loving nature, highlighting the beauty of nature. When you see them, you can see buildings made using really strange architectural features. Reaching this area from a bus stand is about two kilometers, so reaching on foot is an important exercise for the body. Most of the villagers walk or cycle to reach the village.

Looking further at the environment, in addition to the canal that transports water to the paddy field, he saw a canal that transports water to the paddy field on the other side. Despite having lived a somewhat difficult life, the lightness and all the other simple characteristics of the people living in these areas make me happy. Living in an urban area, I am also sorry that I did not have the opportunity to stay in such an area for a long time.
I have actually been quite busy in the last three months or so. Because of this, I even had to give up regular visits. However, in the past, I have been constantly getting opportunities to connect with nature. Whenever there is an opportunity in the future, I will take the opportunity to come on trips to connect with nature.
In addition to paddy cultivation and coconut cultivation, banana cultivation was also done in this area. In addition, I noticed how some vegetables are cultivated. After enjoying the beauty and coolness of this paddy field for over two hours, we decided to pass by this area.
After that we entered a lodge with a beautiful garden near the Weerawila lake. It is a pleasure to have ornamental plants and flowers grown in this garden which are more important than the beauty of a garden. An servant of the lodge mentioned that in the morning, elephants can be seen from here passing the Weerawila lake and going to the forest through the village. It was also a pleasure to keep the air-conditioned rooms exceptionally clean.
A separate zone for recreational visitors was arranged inside two traditional canoes. There is an opportunity to stay at this place enjoying the coolness of the Weerawila lake at night. The employee did not mention that there is a risk to this area from wild animals. If there was such a risk, it would not be possible to run this accommodation in this way.
It would be wonderful to have a garden with such beautiful plants in such a dry climate. There is an opportunity to stop anywhere in the park and enjoy the shade and coolness of the trees. Apart from that, the coolness and wind coming from the Weerawila lake also calms our mind.
Finally we reached Tissamaharama lake which is most famous among local tourists. It is safer to swim near the banks of the river in crowded places because crocodiles live in abundance in these lakes. Boat transport services are also available to visit the beauty of Tissa Lake. Rs.3000 to Rs.5000 per person is charged depending on the distance of the journey.
Village environment always perfect. It's evergreen crops field are looking so beautiful.
