Hi my loving travellers,
How are you guys? For a long time, I was unable to post content on this beautiful platform or access other people's content because I had to face various troubles in my personal life. Although those troubles have not stopped yet, I have decided to post content again and engage with others because I have to face life. In fact, through the troubles that come with life, we can add experiences to our lives and find suitable answers through them. Sri Lanka is a beautiful island in the truest sense of the word. The number of natural objects in it is incalculable. Among them, Yala National Park holds a special place. On the last weekend of last year, I had the opportunity to take a safari ride in Yala National Park. Various types of animals, reptiles and birds can be seen in Yala National Park. I would like to share the photos and experiences I took with you through this content.
Before entering Yala National Park, while we were driving to the Palatupana entrance in the booked safari jeep, we saw a beautiful Buddhist temple built on a rock. Although it is located in a beautiful place surrounded by nature, it is reached through a difficult road. This is a great example of the beauty of every difficult destination. Today, skyscrapers are built using modern technology, but these creations made in the past when there was no advanced technology were amazing. Carrying building materials up a rock with no transportation facilities is also amazing.
The lakes in the Yala National Park, which are located in a dry zone, had dried up about half of their water due to lack of rain. But their blue color attracted more tourists. Especially foreign tourists stop at such places to take photos and videos, so jeep drivers stop without noticing. Since crocodiles come to sunbathe near such lakes, drivers stop their jeeps for a while to show tourists the crocodiles and the four-legged animals that come to drink water. Large trees have grown in the middle of the lakes, showing us beautiful views.
Although Yala National Park is a haven for seeing various animals and birds, some animals are not lucky enough to be seen. This is because they do not stay in one place. The dedication made by the safari jeep drivers in particular to make these wonderful opportunities possible is remarkable. The peacock is a bird that is seen in abundance in Yala National Park. Since peacocks are found almost everywhere in the park, it is possible to get close-up views. Although peacocks are attractive because of their beautiful and long feathers, their voices are not so attractive.
We were lucky enough to see a crocodile basking in the sun from the ground near a muddy lake. It is dangerous to approach a crocodile, which is a very dangerous reptile. Since it is a reptile that is stronger in water, it is not easy to escape if it is caught in the water. No matter how fierce an animal is, its role in maintaining the balance of the food chain in the environment is important.
Unlike Udawalawe and Kaudulla National Parks, elephant herds are not commonly seen in Yala National Park. Although such a rare sight has not been seen in the past, my eyes were lucky this time. During this trip, our group was able to see several elephants, the largest animals in the forest. If any animal does not interfere with its freedom, it will not retaliate.
Deer are one of the most common animals seen in herds in Yala National Park. Deer, which are always alert and alert, run at lightning speed in a flash. Deer, which is one of the most innocent animals, eats only leaves, but it becomes the prey of carnivores. Deer are an attractive animal because of the white spots on their brown skin. Meanwhile, our group had the opportunity to watch a wonderful scene. We saw two deer in a herd fighting with our own eyes. This fight, which is fought by banging their horns, is a dangerous one.
We entered Yala National Park during the day. By then, a large number of jeeps carrying many local and foreign tourists had already entered. On this day, elephants could be seen in abundance in the park. The elephants started moving back and forth on the road as if welcoming the tourists. They did not cause us any trouble.
A short distance away, the jeep came across the skeleton of a dead elephant. When any animal, including an elephant, dies in the forest, the body naturally lies in the open, and carnivorous animals come and eat the meat. After a while, the rain and sun melt it, leaving only the skeleton. Judging by the shape of the elephant's head and legs, it can be assumed that it was a large animal.

I'm glad you decided to face life.
Your trip looked lovely, our deer here in Canada only have spots when they are young. How lucky you got to see the elephants, and the crocodile too.
